Hi guys,
I'm left handed and I ordered an american std. strat through guitar center (white w/ rosewood) on 9/05. Found out a week later its on backorder with a ship date of 10/14. That day came and went and now they tell me they are expecting the shipment on 11/29. Theres a list of 5 people waiting on these and I'm number 3.

My question is, is there a way to get one of these faster? Or do I have to just suck it up and wait for the order to come in? Would ordering straight from Fender do anything for me?

Any advice/experience is appreciated, I was really counting on having this guitar by now and after waiting this long to find out it'll be another month is really disappointing

bond39023, welcome to the Forum. A call to customer service at Fender may help with information on your order. I hope that you get it soon so you can post a pic and let us know how you like your new Strat!

I've known of instances where a southpaw waited over a year for a special-order lefty.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear but that's been my observation.

:(

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm going to put a call in to Fender tomorrow and hopefully I'll get some info. Maybe I'll just go for a different style as the white w/ rosewood is 1 of 2 styles that seem to be out of stock on multiple websites. I really like that one though...

Have you given any thought to buying a Mexican Strat and putting the pickups of your choice in it?These days the Mexican Strats are of excellent fit and finish and even sound great with the original pups-I know as I have a lefty MIM Strat and she can sing like an angel or wail like a banshee. These waits and ETAs can be delayed and defered for months and months beyond the original arrival date promised.

Thanks for the info, I have considered a MIM but I've been wanting a strat for a while now (been playing a les paul the past 5 yrs) and I have the money for an american made so I think that's what I'm gonna go with. I'd like to hear from people who had ordered fender stuff and had it on backorder. If it does start to seem like backorder dates can keep getting pushed further and further like you say, I think I'll just choose a different finish before choosing the MIM. I noticed sites like Music123.com have practically every variety of lefty strats in stock aside from the one I wanted which has a date of 12/6/11 attached.
