John not too far from there, just the other side of the county. You get the medieval games. Such games include shin kicking, knuckle smashing and climbing the greased pole.

Of course it's all mead fuelled.

Good nights out in Glos'.

Ah, an epic sight, yes indeed. We're a serious and dignified people and this is us at our sober best. 8)

A serious thought: about 80 percent of all the sports played around the world today were invented and/or codified in my small island nation (true); it's a strange talent we have. So study that video closely: I promise that all of you out there will be doing this in a few years' time - probably at the Olympics.

And an even more serious thought: that's a Double Gloucester cheese, not a Cheddar. A vital difference. Yum yum.

Good post. Thank you, John.

Cheers - C

Hmmmm Cheeeeeeeeeese

Leave it with me. But someone else will have to find a hill. They are a bit scarce round these parts. Malvern looks to be a promising location.

Though we must establish some rules.

No cheese knives within a 100 yard radius of the wheel.
Strictly no Marmite to be used for traction.
No wearing guitars on the hill.
Any disagreement over who caught the cheese will be settled by a tug of cheese competition. No photo finishes because we don't want photographers criticizing the picture.
If you finish a full barrel of ale, on top of the hill, before the race. You will be allowed to chase the cheese by rolling down the hill in the barrel. (Though you must bring your own clean up kit).

Sounds a bit cheesy, but very dair-y. Could be fun... hope I don't feel all blue by the end of it. :D

True, Armadillos are pretty well protected, and they can roll up in a ball (making the trip down the hill easier), but still... :?

I don't think the fused vertebrae in my neck would look too kindly on that activity.

Yeah, I don't think my four time rebuilt right knee would appreciate that down hill action...I'm with you SA, and I also don't think there is any cheese that could make me want to do this...

I hope they never have to give out a Darwin Award at one of these events.
I think that was my cousin wearing the horse head. And I guess back in the day the Monty Python crew as talented as they were had plenty of material to work from just by looking out the window.
