You know what would have been cool, Nathan? If you had met him at Alpine Valley and he said, "Hey kid, you wanna go on a helicopter ride?"

This to me is a dynamic question that the answer to changes over time, ruling out all the string players from the Beatles (Sorry Ringo).

Right now Roy Buchanan I am currently enthralled by the man and the player...

I propose a new rule for this thread: you have to name a living person. Of course we could all name people like Hendrix and Allman. I think it's more interesting to see who you would pick if the meeting were to occur tomorrow w/ a live person. Just a suggestion.

I picked Dan Auerbach. I would love to pick his brain on so many things. I'm not an expert guitarist, but it seems to me that he has so much restraint and it's just so juicy. What I mean is, it appears he could just let it rip and play wicked shred fast if he felt like it, but he never lets it go and he leaves the listener with just a tiny taste and...well, I just think the Black Keys and Dan on his solo album have released some really tasty songs w/ some very tasty and fresh guitar playing. He has been quoted as saying that he likes every instrument to be playing rythmn, and he tends to solo even less than, say, a Kurt Cobain or other early 90s guys, but yet the listener can tell that Dan is just in total control and it's just great. He makes me close my eyes when I hear his playing.

Big thanks to Dan, he brought me to the water of blues.

Something tells me IMSRV was the thing in the basement. Joey was all "Ewwww." in his cool voice.
