I propose a new rule for this thread: you have to name a living person. Of course we could all name people like Hendrix and Allman. I think it's more interesting to see who you would pick if the meeting were to occur tomorrow w/ a live person. Just a suggestion.

I picked Dan Auerbach. I would love to pick his brain on so many things. I'm not an expert guitarist, but it seems to me that he has so much restraint and it's just so juicy. What I mean is, it appears he could just let it rip and play wicked shred fast if he felt like it, but he never lets it go and he leaves the listener with just a tiny taste and...well, I just think the Black Keys and Dan on his solo album have released some really tasty songs w/ some very tasty and fresh guitar playing. He has been quoted as saying that he likes every instrument to be playing rythmn, and he tends to solo even less than, say, a Kurt Cobain or other early 90s guys, but yet the listener can tell that Dan is just in total control and it's just great. He makes me close my eyes when I hear his playing.
