Finally after a few days of hunting I've(We've) decided on a new truck. She's a near mint '07 GMC Ext. Cab 4X4 and the only options she has are:Auto Trans, A/C,AM/FM/CD radio and locking rear differential and Power steering and brakes with ABS and traction control. She only has 55,000 miles and not a scratch or blemish on her.She also comes with a set of deep tread off-road tires with rims for winter. Now The big question:where she's in near showroom condition should I go and get her reliced?

Will post pix whenever Blinkers drops by next and shows me how to yet again

Someone once told me that trucks and guitars are the same, in that neither one is worth its salt until they have a fue dents in them. Take it out and make it filthy then parade it around town like a badge of honor. 8) And check out that rear wheel steering. I understand that can be quite useful at times. 8) Enjoy your new rig.

Sweet. I have an '05 Silverado 4x4. It has been a good truck. I have only had a few problems with it, mainly due to the electronic 4x4 engagement. I recently replaced the transfer case encoder motor assembly.

Other than that it has been pretty solid.

Awesome! I also have an '05 Silverado Z71 4x4 that has been a great truck. I just turned over 100,000 miles. That electronic 4x4 engagement has been troublesome, especially the Auto 4WD, but it's been great (and fun) in the winter snow.

Where I live on an unpaved lane a mile from the main road that's open to the snowdrifting from the open Atlantic in winter a 4X4 is pretty well a given. We were without a 4X4 for 8 yrs and I certainly hated having to depend on the whims of the snowplow operator when I could go out. Both my wife and I have back problems too and mine are so bad that they required surgery.Shoveling wet snow that has picked up more moisture blowing over the North Atlantic certainly doesn't help a bad back.

A lot of people think that people buy 4X4s for a macho image but some of us have to drive them because of health reasons and work necessities also.

What we are seeing is ESA sending space probes around the Sun, closer than ever before, europeans first observing neutrinos possibly going faster than light, ESA GOCE satelights mapping the Earths gravity to the highest definition ever...

I finally got the keys and paid for the truck so now she's officially mine.I haven't tried her off road yet-and won't until I can find someone to go off with-never 4 wheel it alone. She handles the lane to my house-that's little more than a cow path-quite well smoothing out even the roughest bumps.

I gave her a good washing this afternoon and tomorrow it's on with a good coat of Mother's finest polish&wax. She's jet black and just has a few light scratches but I have some good Turtle rubbing compound that should get rid of all but the worst of them. I hope to get pix up tomorrow.

Do you mean science with an objective? Heaven forbid, we'll be trying to educate people next if we keep this up.

Far better than a pointless space race to divert attention from the arms race in any case.

And let's not forget...

"Friends at NASA have told me that the technological challenge of making a Mach 2.2 passenger jet was greater than putting a man on the moon Those rocket boys get all teary-eyed about their beloved Apollos. But when you mention the Concorde, their eyes dry and they nod, slowly and reverentially."

Yep thirty nine.
Design and production of that plane dates right back to the late fifties. First flight was '69.

SO

When are we going to mod 'Slingers truck. Get rid of that automatic transmission and put him a jet engine on the back.

Congrats Derek, hope you get many years of good pleasurable service from the wagon.

Blimey, long time in the making. I miss seeing it going over my house.

And yes- it's moddin' time. Whipple charger, 12" lift kit, 65' winch, dual stainless steel exhausts- no mufflers. Be a man. 8)
