well today in the spirit of this thread I woke up with the mad scientist look and left it. no one at work even noticed... is that bad?

Haha, I'm glad you felt inspired. This made me laugh. It's been less than a week since the haircut and all I can say is that its starting to grow on me. It's kinda nice to again be able to shower and not have to go to bed with wet hair.

I don't judge people by the length of their hair, but by their hygiene. If you're gonna keep it long take care of it.

I've been short haired and clean shaven for about 10 years now and I can definitely say I do not miss all the work of having long hair down to my ash and a half beard.

One thing that kinda caught my eye though was the OP's reference to "the security of long hair". I've been pondering that and still don't get it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I wasn't judging you in particular, but since you seem to be offended let me clarify my statement. I will preface this by saying that in my youth I too had long hair. I never felt discriminated against because it was common in the 1970s for young people to wear their hair long. Long hair on a man or woman requires a good deal of maintenance to keep it healthy and looking good. It can be time consuming. If someone chooses to wear their hair long and goes days without grooming he or she are reflecting a portion of their character. Slovenliness projects a poor self image to others and will not get anyone bonus points in the real world. That is all I was saying. Hope you understand. :)

I keep my hair short, usually go over with a electric hair razor once a month/couple of monts. If I would start to grow it out I would just look silly because my hair is thining out, it started to thin out when I was around 20 years old. :x

But probs to you for donating your hair.
