I can't answer your wiring question but "CAD" = computer aided design software for drawing up plans and designing parts.

Funny thing is I use different CAD/CAM software every day but I still draw up wiring plans in paint.

Are there any which have guitar parts in them?
Back on topic, sorry I'm not more helpful but I'm sure someone will come and sort you out. Maybe someone big and hairy...

Any guitar or guitar part that is milled is first designed, imported, or drawn up in CAD. There is a bit of a learning curve learning to draw in 3d and some of the software is very involved. I'm sure you could find project files for guitars or guitar parts floating around. I use Rhino primarily but I have also worked with others. A part as simple as a guitar body would not be hard (time consuming the first time but not hard) to draw up. They use this software to design suspension bridges and computer chips so a guitar would be simple by comparison. If you are interested in 3d design I would recommend starting with a simple program like google sketchup free. You can design simple things with it while you study the more advanced programs and learn about CAD/CAM. Solidworks would be fun to design guitars in.

OK back on topic.

You may forgive my ignorance, I'm only familiar with circuit simulation software, which is somewhere in CAD's outer family.
