I have an 86 944 turbo that is having the same problem :/ I have done everything but swap the engine  I think with some cars multiple things just crap out all at the same time. you could do what i am doing and slowly rebuild it if you are attached to it  parts for it are probably cheaper than Porsche parts

Not to be picky, but what happened to buy American? A Kia and a Porsche?

I cant control my wife and come one its a Porsche  besides i never said i wasnt a hypocrite

It's dying at 9 years old?

I hope you live in a really extreme area, or that's totally unjustified. My dad's Civic has never had any real work done on it... he forgets to service it, it never got used for months at a time... 10 years old and it always starts on the first turn of the key... 185,000kms later!

Good cars those Civics. I sold one about 4 years ago that had 225000kms on it and the guy is still driving it every day without a problem.

Hell, if I get this 2nd job, I'll buy this 72 Mustang that's been up for sale for about a month.

I hope you know a mechanic or are a capable mechanic yourself. probably a reason its still for sale. honestly I regret buying Fixer Uppers. go for reliability first

It's not a fixer upper if it's fully restored.

fully restored or not its still going to be a chore lol

Yup... we have a family of them... observe!

From left to right... green, 185,000kms, original exhaust, original clutch. Cleaned once every decade so far. Silver one, 96,000kms, all original (as you'd expect at that mileage). Black one (mine 8) ), 144,000kms, all original as well. All start immediately, all have never broken down. The black one's actually quite a nice car to drive too. What more could you want?

We went out today on a truck hunt and found a couple of bargains an '05 Dodge Dakota 4.7lt. V8 fully loaded 4X4 crew cab and an '07 GMC Canyon Ext. Cab 4X4 with just air and radio as the only good options.

They are both the same price but we're leaning towards the GMC because we went online to consumer chat rooms and read reviews that almost all condemned the Dakota's,suspension components, running gear and brakes while the Canyons had few complaints.Anyway we had a lot of trouble with our last Chrysler product and had to replace the transmission twice in the short time that we held on to it.

My sister has an '05 Canyon with lots of miles on it and they haven't had a hitch with it yet a brother in law had a Dakota that was plagued with problems. If I could be guaranteed that the Dakota would be trouble free I'd have it in a heartbeat because it's just a beautiful truck but looking on the practical side the Canyon seems the way to go.

Toyota designed that little 4-banger as the 22-R, arguably one of the most indestructible automotive power plants ever built. It was successfully marketed in cars and light trucks, they Evan used it in some medium trucks like the popular Toyota Dolphin motor Camper.

Thanks, GS. Toyota calls it "Speedway Blue".

But of course to me it's Lake Placid Blue.

Arjay, how's this for a coincidence? I got on the Kijiji website this morning for St. John's NL and low and behold but what should be on it but a Speedway Blue '06 Tacoma Ext. Cab 4X4 with 130.000km for only $9,000.The guy says that he's selling it so cheap because his ex wants 1/2.From the pix she appears to be in near showroom condition-I left him a message to get back to me asap because this is was better that the Dakota or the Canyon given the Toyota's better longevity and reliability.
