Tilts it on a microscopic level.

I have one on my 72 Strat but it's a three bolt neck not four. It allows you to make corrections to the neck tilt without shims. I've only messed with it once in the 39 years I've owned the guitar and that was because I removed the neck to check the date on it.

Do they even have it on a four bolt neck?

Micro tilt adjustments are made when you want to change the angle between the body and the neck. This will definitely affect the action quite significantly along with a few other aspects of the guitar's character and feel. I recommend you do not mess with it unless you are absolutely sure of what you are doing.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It is used to set the neck pitch angle. Don't mess with it at all if you can achieve a good string height without maxing out your saddles' adjustment screws! There are no real "cons" to the design......well, maybe 1....that being people messing with it needlessly LOL. Does the design work? Yes. Is it needed? Absolutely not! Shims can do the same thing, but who has the time to make proper shims when you can just adjust a screw? Seriously though.....leave it alone unless you absolutely MUST change your neck pitch angle!

My Jazz Plus has Micro Tilt. 4 bolt.

That's funny. All people did years was rag about it and the three bolt neck. I've never had any issues with mine. I agree with BMW, if it ain't broke don't fix it. You can really whack out a setup with it if you don't have a clues as to what you're doing.

I have always been weary of micro the tilt. I would think since you are tipping the neck out of the neck pocket you are losing wood contact possible decreasing sustain. but I dunno its probably not noticeable. it just scares me

There's a plate behind it. It's almost like using a shim. It doesn't take much.

I have to say this, shims work better.

I don't see the difference. It's a lot easier to screw up a shim job.
