How many of you folks own this book? I've been swithering whether to get it as it's quite expensive, £25.50 over here in the Uk, but man it looks so good and with the CD's with it as well, demonstrating the sounds through all those delicious amps! Mouthwatering stuff.

Comprehensive as well it looks to say the least; 500+ pages.

Those of you who own it, what do you think of it? is it worth the money? although all the reviews i've read confirm that, though it's expensive, it's worth every penny. :?:

I own it and I know Arjay aka Retroverbial does, and several others have mentioned it...I think it's great and covers the history very well...I use it for reference often.

+1!

My copy is so worn, the cover is falling off.

Wheeler's companion Stratocaster tome is also highly recommended.

What does this book cover? I just got an amp with a 1" thick owners manual, so I'm dreaming of some help.

Thanks guys for the replies, i'm definitely gonna get it soon.

Drew, from what i can gather it covers the full history of fender amps from the beginning up until fairly recently. There are also loads of color pics and tons and tons of stuff, going by the freeview on Amazon where they give you a preview of some pages.

I don't understand the schematics of amps but i want to learn how to read those schematic diagrams as well at some point. :)

Yeah, lots of history and also a basic description of the components that make up an amp and their function...lots of discussion on tone from some well known experts in the field also.
And the Strat book that Arjay mentioned is a must have.

As a research junkie on a number of topics, this book was a "must have" and was worth the cost.

Hi Gorgon. I own it. I have no idea how much it costs because I won it (and several others) in a competition here on the Forum.

Well worth having.

Cheers - C

Hi Ceri, That's great, i ordered it yesterday from Amazon UK, so finally bit the bullett. £25.50 is expensive but you're getting a lot for the money and getting something that should last a lifetime.

I am Green with envy

No need for envy, Gorgon: you'll have that book yourself in a day or two. Enjoy it! 8)

Meantime, while we're waiting, here's some of the other swag I won in a competion right here on the Fender Forum. Thank you, Fender!

BTW: I've lost a bit of weight since that photo. BTW2: Homer is saying; "English? Who needs that? I'm never going to England".

Polo shirts, T-shirts, books, and an Aston Martin.

...No wait, that last item might have been in my dream.

However. Not bad for a third prize, huh? Stick around: it's good here abouts. :D

Cheers - C
