I just caught part of the Ellen Show. The legendary Glen Campbell was on. Mr. Campbell who has been Diagnosed with Alzheimer's displayed obvious signs of forgetfulness during the interview but went on to sing two songs, Wichita Lineman and another I dident recognise. It was good to here his voice as loud and clear as ever. His Guitar was also in Damn good voice. Also cool, his kids Formed his Band, Lead guitar, Bass, Drums, and Key Board. They are all going on tour to Europe soon. Very cool I think. 8)

Glen Campbell

And that's one of the worst things about Alzheimers. It leaves you physically intact (so I'm not surprised his voice is as good as ever), but turns your brain into mush. Top selling fantasy writer Terry Pratchett is going the same way.

Damn shame.

Lord, please take me big style if you're going to - not a piece at a time..

Never been a big fan of his music, but he is a talented musician.

Having a father in law with Parkinson's and now the onset of dementia, I can see first hand how those diseases affect a person. Very terrible and very sad.

Depending on what music you listen to you may have been a fan and not even have known it. He was part of a famous group of studio musicians known as "The Wrecking Crew" and played on countless hit records.

If I remember the first time I saw him was on an old show called "SHINDIG" back around 65 or so. he was just another guitar player. 8)

Glen Campbell also recorded with The Beach Boys, and (on occasion) "sat in" on tour for Brian Wilson.

He is a great guitarist and singer/songwriter, but then again, he was briefly married to or engaged to Tanya Tucker back a number of years ago. Rumors still circulate about him and how he would go off and smack Tanya Tucker around. But then again, it was probably just Hollywood tabloid rumors.

as a kid i always thought he was no big deal... until i saw him on the "hee-haw" show back in the 70's.
BLEW ME AWAY!! he was doing an instrumental guitar number just sitting on a wooden stool and pickin' 3 steps in front of lightning. very talented musician, and i've grown to appreciate his music ever since that day.

I saw Glen Campbell playing bass with the Beach Boys and singing Brian's high harmonies about 1966.

I know that he was a fill in with the Beach Boys who I do like, and I knew he was a studio musician, didn't recognize the "wrecking crew" name though.

I guess when I think of Glen Campbell I hear Witchita Lineman or Rhinestone Cowboy, never a big fan of those. 8)

When my father's Parkinson's developed so far it also progressed into Altzheimers, this was excruciating to watch as he was an absolutely brillaint man.My uncle who had his doctorate in education always said that Dad was the most intelligent person he'd ever met. My mother died of a particularly rapid form of Alzheimers that finished her off in just over 2 months.
When I heard about Glen Campbell developing Altzheimers I immediately thought about what his family was in for enduring. There comes a time with this horrible disease when you watch helplessly as a once brilliant mind fades away and they are blissfully unaware whats happening to them.I'm glad to see that Glen is sticking up to it like a trooper and fighting it with his all-God Bless him.I hope that when his time does come that he can go with dignity and without pain.
