Yeah Chet I agree, lose the pickguard or maybe try a dark one like the Bonamassa GT. They don't put much Nitro on the Tributes. The top may wear faster depending on your strumming technique. I'm looking forward to even more natural wear on my Honeyburst.

I would like it to have the pickguard on, but because the color does not match I think it looks pretty terrible. I was in GC today and they have several of the '60's Tribute guitars (Right Handed of course) and all of the pickguards and pickups matched perfectly.
I emailed Gibson Customer Service with a pic of mine and let them know that I thought it looked terrible. We'll see what they say.

I think that she'd look great with a pickguard the same cream colour as the P-90s or a clear one with your name engraved in it.

Chet,

I think it looks stunning without the pickgard. How much was that clear one from V-pics? Perhaps you could get another for this guitar, best of both worlds.

Aesthetically I prefer it without... but if you're going to be playing it regularly then with pickguard's probably better. :?

Yeah Chet. Not to rub it in, but my 60's Tribute guard does match. The other niggle is it looks like it's cut out for Humbucker pups. Doesn't really bother me much. I more of a tone guy than a looks guy. I could see where something like that would bother someone.

It is cut for P-90's.

It just doesn't look close enough to me. I know it can't touch the pup because it has no ring, but it seems it could be a little better on mine anyway. Still anyway you look at it, it's a really nice sounding and playing guitar. Have you heard anything from Gibson?

It is actually close enough for me. I have not heard anything from Gibson yet.
I changed out the tailpiece to an aluminum one and put on TonePros locking studs and a TonePros Locking Bridge. It plays and sounds GREAT!!!

I'm having a custom pickguard made.

It will be like this one only cut for the P-90's.
