Without. Looks more simplistic.

I'll tell you what I think. I think it's odd I never noticed before that you're a south paw.

My rule of thumb for LP guards:
solid colour = with
transparent with nice wood = without

They both look good. If it was another color I would say with. However, gold looks really good without. That is a hard call. I can't decide for sure. It is almost like tie or open collar.

You never noticed that all my guitar pics were lefties?

Normally I would say the same thing. But for some reason the White guards just looks wrong to me.

Is it white or cream? If it's white, maybe a cream one would look better.

How about this? I fixed it for you!

I also "tweaked" the color of the pickguard. If I had a choice, I'd keep it on there. Like it was mentioned before... Solid color = pickguard. Nice wood finish = no pickguard.

The word Simplistic is key. Love the clean look of the naked Gold Top. 8) Lefty or no. 8)

I like it without the guard. Shows off the beautiful gold top.

I say with. Guitars that are played need pick guards. Function before form. I would only say without if you are going to hang it on a wall to look at but not play, or if you plan on playing it so much that you expect the whole guitar will get a heavy relic.

I believe all LPs should do without the Scratchplate. But that is especially true of a Goldtop.

Strange how your photo suddenly alerted me to the fact that you were a left hander. Like others here, I just hadn't noticed before.

Hi Chet!
Unless the scratch plate was the exact same tone as the pickups,
I vote to remove it.
But being gold, I think it looks stunning either way! 8)

I personally like it with the pickguard. You'll have more peace of mind with it on and I don't think taking it off really does much to improve the looks. Beautiful guitar either way, though! :)
