I'll tell you what I think. I think it's odd I never noticed before that you're a south paw.


My rule of thumb for LP guards:
solid colour = with
transparent with nice wood = without

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

They both look good. If it was another color I would say with. However, gold looks really good without. That is a hard call. I can't decide for sure. It is almost like tie or open collar.

Normally I would say the same thing. But for some reason the White guards just looks wrong to me.

I also "tweaked" the color of the pickguard. If I had a choice, I'd keep it on there. Like it was mentioned before... Solid color = pickguard. Nice wood finish = no pickguard.

I like gold tops without

The word Simplistic is key. Love the clean look of the naked Gold Top. Lefty or no.

I say with. Guitars that are played need pick guards. Function before form. I would only say without if you are going to hang it on a wall to look at but not play, or if you plan on playing it so much that you expect the whole guitar will get a heavy relic.

I believe all LPs should do without the Scratchplate. But that is especially true of a Goldtop.

Unless the scratch plate was the exact same tone as the pickups,
I vote to remove it.
But being gold, I think it looks stunning either way!

I personally like it with the pickguard. You'll have more peace of mind with it on and I don't think taking it off really does much to improve the looks. Beautiful guitar either way, though!
