 Haha - so completely not. Entirely average - just a happy amateur trying his hand.

Nuttin' wrong with that, far as I'm concerned. But definitely not the stuff of legend. Drunken bar stories, maybe... :D

Cheers - C

Sorry mate...those are not amateur hands. You left amateur behind, the day your mum launched you into the light of day. It's called 'a gift".

Well, folks, this thread is nearly as fascinating as the man it tends to! And what a "preview" to the violin thread - simply amazing. Ceri, you've now officially set in stone your status as 8th wonder of the world. No use denying.

Andy, tell us more about the piezo, please!

Nutter

Ceri is the only one who can un-hijack a thread.

It works both ways:

Things just don't calm down on the Peckham bus service do they?

How many Angels can dance on the head of a pin?
However many Ceri decides to put on it.

All in a day's commute on the NYC subways. Bags are checked randomly in our town.

Sorry buddy! I'm a month late on that (been very busy) and there's not a great deal to show or tell.... but here it is anyway.

The piezo had several "dodgy" bits that needed attention...

Image

... Starting with that rather suspect looking wire leading to the bridge mounted transducer.

Image

On closer inspection the wire was fully intact...

Image

...And quickly ruled out of the equation. I sealed the bare wire neatly with some black electrical tape and moved to the next point of interest...

Image

..Which was the Jack socket and associated soldering mess.

Image

As you can see in the above pic the the Hot (+) wire is nowhere near where it should be. That's clearly why the piezo not functioning and is easily sorted with a little jumper wire

Image

Job done! Tim (the violins owner) is a happy bunny!

Bit of a shocker eh Doc'.
I think he ought put a Floyd Rose on it too.

Now that sound like a great idea! :D

Image

Lace Sensors ... Check! Beer...Check! Floyd Rose....Check.... Just need Forum Legend, Ceri's Jedi-like Luther skills to "pimp" this fiddle and we're in business!

Should be fun!

Enjoy!

Andy
