As I was skimming the web today a particularly tasty bit of info was smeared across my screen, causing general happiness and appetite at the same time. I considered this too delicious to not show my fellow friends of Fender.

There's apparently some Authority in Denmark which is currently testing whether or not to take our beloved (or loathed) Marmite off the Danish market. I liked the line about Danish fans of the spread "threatening a campaign of civil disobedience" should the product be banned for good. And that, ladies and gentlemen, shows true love for the sticky stuff.

I work as a policeofficer in Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, and will probably find it very difficult to sleep tonight in fear of the chaos we apparently are about to witness. If you don't see any post from me in the next couple of days it is because i'm writing my will before the riots begin :D

Hi Søren, and welcome to the forums!

Well if you're about to go into battle I highly recommend a dosage of Marmite to get into the right spirit! :-)

Cheers

Ah yes, I remember this headline story from back in May - and the national outcry it provoked.

Denmark: so civilised in so many ways, yet so barbaric in others. I go there often: perhaps Søren would like to explain remoulade and its uses to a shocked Forum?

Mind you, if you are a fan of amazingly beautiful young women riding bicycles in extremely short skirts, well, Copenhagen does have some things to recommend it...

Anyhow. This has all set off a mighty craving in me for Marmite, food of the gods. But - distaster! No bread in the house for making toast. Could just go out and buy some, or... make some. [Ceri hurries to the kitchen and starts mixing his flour and yeast.]

To be continued. (You can't say I don't throw myself into the spirit of a thread.)

Cheers - C

Well, you're also throwing yourself into the spirit of a bread, so I'll have to do the same. Damnit. (stampedes off to the kitchen)

The Danish authorities have the support of Epic Sock wearing Big Hairy folk on this serious issue, and are clearly right to ban Marmite.

In my mind, there are several reasons why it should be banned world wide.

1) If consumed regularly it will beyond any doubt, make you utterly repellent to the opposite sex.

2) It attracts sharks.

3) It shows up on enemy radar.

4) Its the main cause of erectile dysfunction. :|

5) It smells evil (and probably is evil... pure evil)

Nasty stuff. The world would be a far better place with out it.

Enjoy! :D

Nice find John.E, I like this bit most:

"They don't like it because it's foreign," she said. "But if they want to take my Marmite off me they'll have to wrench it from my cold dead hands."

Luvly!

Cheers

MARMITE :?: I understand that I'm an ignorant American, but What is Marmite? For God sakes. Why isn't it available in the US? I want to try some. Where can it be found? :?

Hi Danny: many's the time in distant, dusty parts of the world my life has been saved by this website:

http://www.britishexpatstore.com/Marmit ... tract_125g

But no need for an emergency airlift: last time I was in Agata & Valantina in New York I found Marmite readily available for the pleasure of all those of taste and discrimination. Civilisation is at hand.

My bread is rising.

Cheers - C

Thanks Ceri" I'll be sure and get hold of some of this thing called "MARMITE". I hope it's as good as you claim. I'm looking forward to a taste. :)

----Danny,

Hahahahaha! Honestly, you'll hate it!

But kudos to you if you give it a try. Be sure to tell us what you find.

Mostly happy, John. Though the Neff hob is probably the least good bit. I do like that fast ring in the middle, but the design and the brushed steel make it a nightmare to keep clean. Our old enamel white one was much easier - but kitchen companies seem to think it's stainless steel or nothing these days. "Stainless" - yeah, right...

Attracts sharks? Nonsense. I gel my hair with the stuff and have not seen one fin appear on the Trent or the Wytham.

They probably have a hard time navigating the shopping trolleys and cats with magnets rammed down their throats.
