Aside from the goofy stuff, like Turducken or Pigurky or what ever it is. How do the traditional dishes vary from one coast to another? I know that in the US Turkey day foods are about the same all over Turkey / deep fried or roasted. A nice fat Goose or Chicken. Maybe a nice little roast pig. A baked Ham or a roast beef. Evan favorite large Fish/Salmon/Striped Bass. I'ts all darn good and usually served with Potatoes/ Sweet or otherwise. Stuffing of some favorite variety. Green vegetables of all kinds and deserts Pies/Pumpkin/mince meat. Cakes of all kinds Cranberries and many other foods that are loved by all. I for one would love to here your twist on the festive occasion.

A traditional part of the Thanksgiving meal-and any other festive time-in Newfoundland and Labrador,is Jiggs Dinner.Jiggs Dinner is made up of sliced turnip,turnip greens and or ,carrots,parsnipsand potatoes boiled in a pot with salt -not corned-beef or pork and something we call pease pudding.Pease pudding is comprised of split yellow dried peas soaked overnight and then placed in a cotton bag or pillow case type bag and cooked in the pot with the Jiggs Dinner.

The Jiggs Dinner is cooked along with the traditional turkey which itself has been stuffed with a stuffing made out of breadcrumbs,onion,butter,pepper and winter savoury.Sage and other herbs are Never used in NF stuffings just savoury and that's it.Gravy is made from the renderings of the turkey along with the pot liquor of the Jiggs Dinner.

Allow at least 8 hours sleep after consuming this hardy meal as you'll be fit for little else.
