It went well, as you all stated I relaxed about half way though the 2nd song. It felt like a jam from there on, it was well received, so I am told, I heard heaps of enthusiastic people at the end of tracks!! Was just great fun, Even though performing is not my musical goal I suppose that's just where it takes you. Thank you for all your support it was invaluable leading up to it as a was nervous as you can get in the last 48 hours before getting up. Funnily enough I calmed down in the last minutes before I went on.

Thanks Again people!

Cheers!

Hi Oz! 15 years man what a thrill!
How did you feel afterwards, when you where putting away your gear?
:( :? :D  8) 8) 8)

I only perform about twice a year, alone on stage with a classical guitar. I keep telling myself to get over it and just do my best. But usually it takes me half the set to melt away the aprehension. I hate it.

This is a great thread man, let´s hear more stories and input!
Cheers, Mike.

Do it to it. Don't pansy it out, make it a great restart for yourself. Do well, and go hard; you might make a mistake, but who cares? Go for it!

I'm naturally pretty nervous :? , Any tips would be appreciated :D , Bluesy style set. I know i should start solo's at 4 (in a manner of speaking) maybe go up to 7 and back to 4, And not try and play at 11/10ths at all.
The question i would really like answered is  ....should i go for my best (yet unforgiving) tone with a strat or should i get up with a LP and hide behind breaking up P90's and just go for the rock, distortion, sustain "hide the mistakes" type of playing While i cut my teeth again :?:
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :D

Thx 8)

I know how it feels. When I played my first show with HaleAmano, I only knew 3 of their songs.. We played 11.

But what I did was play to my strengths and didn't think about any weaknesses. If you know the material, play the Strat, belt out your strengths, and remember that in general an average person can't recognize many mistakes unless they're blatant. What they can recognize, is whether you're playing with confidence or not just by your body language.

Play your best gear, use your strengths, play with confidence, sink or swim. That's how I managed through the first stages of playing live in this band.

This is one of my favorite vids to pass on when people have their doubts. Soak it in, it's a great lesson given by one of the best.

Good luck!! Remember to have fun. There's a reason why they call it "playing" music.

BTW Thanks much for the link, that was sweet!

Way to go ozrv! I knew you'd have fun. It's worth all the nerves. Nothing quite like it.

Other than campfires, new years parties and seniors homes - all with my acoustic - I haven't played a venue with any of my electrics in over 25 years. Sharing your experiences gave me chance to relive the thrill again. I might have been on the other side of the world, but I was was right there with you. Thanks a million.

Doc

Congratz Ozrv! glad to see that things went well. You mentioned that Performing is not your major goal in music. If I were so fortionet as to be given that opertunity, I would probably consider the performance as the iceing on the cake. I understand the inner fealings of acomplishment. Thats all well and good, but a sucess on the stage usually equates to Finantual reward and a cirton amount of noteriaty. I would think all good things. If you dont mind my asking. What is your most important goal in music? :)
