It's tomorrow at a popular sunday live music venue. I'm naturally pretty nervous :? , Any tips would be appreciated :D , Bluesy style set. I know i should start solo's at 4 (in a manner of speaking) maybe go up to 7 and back to 4, And not try and play at 11/10ths at all.
The question i would really like answered is  ....should i go for my best (yet unforgiving) tone with a strat or should i get up with a LP and hide behind breaking up P90's and just go for the rock, distortion, sustain "hide the mistakes" type of playing While i cut my teeth again :?:
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated :D

Thx 8)

You may start off looking at 4 to 7 as the way back in. And as the the conservative way to keep whatever guitar you use under control.

But I'm sure that what you really know, is that once you're through the first few numbers and feel some confidence building, and when you're not gripping that guitar neck quite as hard as you were when you started that show, you're going to pick up some forward momentum.

I'll lay money on your voulme control inching up as you go. You'll be on 8/10 by the time you're done!

Have a good one feller..

I know how it feels. When I played my first show with HaleAmano, I only knew 3 of their songs.. We played 11.

But what I did was play to my strengths and didn't think about any weaknesses. If you know the material, play the Strat, belt out your strengths, and remember that in general an average person can't recognize many mistakes unless they're blatant. What they can recognize, is whether you're playing with confidence or not just by your body language.

Play your best gear, use your strengths, play with confidence, sink or swim. That's how I managed through the first stages of playing live in this band.

This is one of my favorite vids to pass on when people have their doubts. Soak it in, it's a great lesson given by one of the best.

Good luck!! Remember to have fun. There's a reason why they call it "playing" music.

+1

You bring your "A" game to the stage.

(praying for "divine intervention" couldn't hurt either)

Best of luck, hope it all works out for the best.

RAWK ON!

If you find you're nervous at all, here's something that has always helped me.

I suffer from butterflies that register on the Richter scale. What I always found helped me was to find a quiet place to sit down alone for a few minutes before going on stage. I would close my eyes, clear my mind and take long, deep, slow breathes. As I exhaled I would feel the tension and stress flow down my limbs and out of my body.

I know, it sounds kinda 'cosmic', but it always worked for me. Gave me enough calm to get me through the first few tunes and get comfortable with venue.

Worth trying a few times at home to get the hang of it first. In the years that followed, in my 'other life', I would use the same technique before or after any activity that sent the stress level through the roof.

Go get 'em, ozrv! It's gonna be great.
