No, not really. They're pretty smooth.

Hey Stratofiedmind, I too like picks made of exotic materials. I played Fender mediums for about 25 years, but since discovering stone, bone, shell etc, I have no use for a flexible pick, especially plastic. (collecting, yes). The silver half dollar picks are about standard pick size, but like you say pre -'65 for the silver content. The stone ones are nice but not my absolute favourite.

Have had a Min'd (stone) pick for 3 decades. Last year, bought a smaller, thinner agate one. Polished VERY smooth. Sounds best in this opinion on an acoustic guitar.

Also in the collection and worth having, as the sounds are different and somewhat exotic for different musical styles: Coconut, rosewood, ebony, camel bone, steeer horn, Dava Control (very cool), V-picks, compressed felt and a Jellifish tine-ed pick.

And of course, a bunch of traditional Fender Heavy.

I rarely use a pick (usually just use fingerflesh and fingernails). Occasionally I use a Clayton teardrop, very thick (1.26mm or 1.5mm). I would like to try some stone picks or some other material, just for grins...I have done the old ground down quarter and old ground down peso trick. They work pretty well, but overall, I prefer the feel of flesh on string...

This is also an interesting material. Mammoth Ivory.
I made these myself, but you can buy them ready made.
This material is absolutely legal and ethical.
The feel is very close to genuine tortoiseshell.
