Kris Kristofferson! Just him and his acoustic, he kept forgetting how to play songs and forgetting lyrics. Good thing he wrote them...

Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band-Thompson Student Center-St. John's, NL, circa 1974. After playing a fabulous Friday night concert at the center Captain Beefheart returned to do a second show on Saturday night. The show started off with Zoot Horn Rollo doing some tremendous slide guitar and I figured that I was in for a spectacular show. For some reason by the 3rd or 4th number they lost a huge amount of momemtum and The Captain declared that the band and audience weren't connecting and walked off the stage with his entourage never to return despite a huge amount of clapping and cheering from the audience.

I'm suprised we've not heard about some of Axl's antics yet...hmm.

I was on a annual outdoor festival in Westman Islands, Iceland. There was this guy who is self-proclaimed Sinatra of Iceland. He got halfway through his first song when 20.000 people started boo-ing him. That bastard finihsed his half hour set with everybody booing the whole time.

I went to see KISS in 1996. The opening band was the worst live performance I've seen. Called themselves D Generation.

Everyone has an off night, it's true. It's a sad fact when you buy a ticket you never know if you'll be unlucky enough to attend one of those "off nights" either.

THe worst KISS show I ever saw, was the Asylum tour in Milwaukee. It was at the Mecca and the sound was terrible, WASP was the opening act and never was a fan of them. KISS sounded and looked like a 2nd rate Poison that night in the pink and neon green clothes. Some of their musicianship was really good due to Eric Carr and Bruce Kulik's talents but overall the show was just a letdown by comparison.

The worst show I ever paid to see? Cheap Trick at the Waupaca County Fair in Weyauwega WI...! How they were ever booked for that I'll never know, didn't ever think they'd play something so small. But they were really late, like 2 hours, and there was talk that they weren't gonna show at all. When they did play it was obvious they couldn't have cared less. Even the normally animated Rick Nielsen looked pissed off or something. I think it was the 8th or 9th time I'd seen them and it was just uncharacteristically bad.

Breaking Benjamin! total waste of money and time. the whole band sounded out of tune and they kept getting out of sync like each member was playing at a different tempo. several times the singer just stopped singing and looked around like he had no idea where he was. at one point a song ended and the drummer just kept going  they played like they were hung over

I've had several potentially good concerts ruined by bad acoustics or other circumstances not connected with the band, but the worst PERFORMANCE I've ever seen by an established, "name" performer was George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars. It was at a show in Rochester, NY back in the mid-90s and the band was terrible. I'm not sure if they were drugged up, didn't feel like playing or were just having an off night, but they frankly just made a bunch of noise up on stage for about an hour before leaving the stage. I had seen them before and have seen them since and they were much, MUCH better both nights. I suppose even the the best bands have off nights.

I saw George Clinton in the mid 2000's and there was no horn section! Apparantly the bus was stopped at the (Canadian) border and was not allowed to cross. That totally sucked. I wanted the horn section!

Saw Sinead O'Connor at the Star Lake Amphitheater outside Pittsbugh, PA. She played 2 songs then left the stage. About 15 minutes later, someone came on stage and said the show was over. Later we found out she was pregnant and had morning sickness.

Another bad concert I went to was a Canadian band called the Tea Party. This has nothing to do with the band, but some a-hole in the crowd. Part way through the set someone threw a bottle of water at the band and it hit the keyboard player in the head and spilled all over his gear. It must have shorted out something because the singer said "If we can get Stuart's keyboard working again, we'll be back." They never came back. Why would someone pay money to throw somethig at a band they came to see?
I had seen them before and it was a toss up between going to see Tommy Chong or the Tea Party. My buddy really wanted to go to see the band so we did. We should of went to Tommy Chong. :(

Too bad you had that bad experience, because the Tea Party were/are a great band! Seen them a couple of times and really enjoyed the show.

Yeah, P-Funk without the horn section just isn't the same :(

I saw "Journey" in Columbia, SC in 1982 or 83 and it was the worst. What's funny is that I have met complete strangers and this topic comes up and they also cite that as their worst concert ever!
