There is something about the Telecaster that I like. I think I would like them better if they had some solid color options or they should have used less pieces of wood. But the concept of a cheap HSS tele appeals to me. I cannot wait until my local guitar store gets one in for me to play around on. Then I can see if I really want one.

Esthetically I can't agree with you more RK, but I bailed out of a really rare and great Tele because, after so many years playing Strats, there was just too much guitar under my arm.

If I had the dosh, I would buy one of each...
The Modern player range is different and I quite like the look of them all.
Even if the pups sounded like dogs, it would not be too hard to get them changed!
My Telebass has been pre-ordered and deposit put down. And another week or twoof saving scrap money, I might order the Marauder too.
Can't wait until the New Year and according to Fender Au, I should be one of the first to actually get one into my grubby little mitts.

Okay, now I'm thinking black hardware AND the Strat jack cup removed and have it sidemount for input like a LP.

That would do the finish justice for sure.

What they've done here is resurrected the Tele-Plus name which used to be associated w/an FLS equipped guitar about 13 years ago when the Plus-Series guitars were at the top of the heap. The guitar popularized now in the band Radiohead, had a Blue Lace at the neck and a Red Lace Dually at the bridge, with a similar coil splitting circuit. I had a gorgeous natural finish guitar which I bought used for a song and ultimately traded up for a black Clapton in equally fine finish. The Tele was a stormer, having none of the qualities of a country sound. It was a balls to the wall rocker.
As I said before, the drawback was having all that wood under my right arm. The only thing that remains is some video of me playing it at the wedding of my best friends daughter back in 1999.

Yep, I've parted ways with my Rhodes Chroma Polaris and Martin and
feelin' the GAS again.

See.....I liked that earlier Tele-Plus without the middle pickup. Same rationale as Robertson's. The pickup gets in the way. Save for the vintage 'feel', a Strat like that is also a good design.

I pre-ordered one of the Teles in September, was supposed to start shipping on October 10. I just checked my order status and now the ship date is clear off to NOVEMBER 10! Just like the new G-DECs - pre-order and wait forever... with ship dates pushed off again and again.

Maybe I'll get it in time for my wife to wrap it up for a Christmas present!

It was worth the wait though, eh...
