what will fender do to the original squier models? (the jagmaster the duo sonic the cyclone etc)

The duo sonic and the cyclone were both originally fender guitars. The duo sonic was originally made in the late 50's to late 60's and the cyclone was first made by fender in 1997.

Not unusual for corporations to warehouse trademarks and then bring them back in a new format. Fender has a few others which would make for an interesting renaissance.

Something else you might not have known, is that there was a single-pickup version called the Musicmaster. Back in the day, these were Fender's introductory student guitars. Going up the line to the Teles, Esquires, and the Strats. Then came the Jazzmaster and the Jaguar. Of course, that was over 50 years ago in my wishful thinking, nose-to-the glass history book. Thanks for the memories. Enjoy your brave new world.

Word around some of the forums is that the Modern Player Series will replace the Squier Series with all Squiers eventually being discontinued(from what I understand the Squier Acoustics have already been discontinued).

The speculation is that Fender is concerned about the label snobs that won't buy a Squier believing it's not a 'real' Fender. By still producing the lower end guitars in Asia but switching the label from Squier to Fender, maybe FMIC believes the label snobs will now buy since the guitars will now be 'real' Fenders.

Any truth to that, Fender?

According to a reliable source....Not true.

Modern Baby Player more like with the 42mm nut width. When is Fender going to admit that adults would like to buy inexpensive guitars? Other companies (AXL comes to mind) make inexpensive offshore guitars with the Fender-American-Adult-Standard 43mm nut width. But with Fender, you have to pay a $500 premium just to get a playable guitar. Really Fender, is a 1mm nut width differential really worth $500??

Having been racking my brains for the name of this MIJ axe of years gone by, in comes my first patient of the day whose last name is Katana.. Now here's a design which might be an interesting resurrection for Fender. I leave it to your resources if you've never seen one. Alain owns three so you might try www.guitarmotel.com as a first glance.

G'day Ceri...I seek you're hanging around. Have a great weekend. Well....back to the proverbial...

Doc

Remember the one-off Jazzmaster which Fender built for that door prize at the China Club several years ago? That was a great looking guitar. It rained like hell that night, and pretty much kept me from going into Manhattan. I think it was a 2SB w/all black plastic.
