Never went into production. was in the catalogue in 65. There were some special orders done in the mid 50's I believe.

Here's one variation of the Marauder theme......

Image

This artist's concept image featured a hardtail configuration, pickups concealed beneath the pickguard (a la the Line 6 Variax), and switching/controls based on the Jaguar.

They should reissue the Marauder.

Yet another version, in a custom Duco finish and with a Starcaster-shaped headstock......

Mercifully, someone at FMI/CBS R&D must've ultimately made the connection between this monstrosity and some of Teisco Del-Ray's more "esoteric" designs and finally pulled the plug.

Whether it went into production or not, the Marauder name made it onto guitars built by the Shergold company.

Yah I actually played a gibson marauder once on a mission trip.

Funny little guitar, kinda like gibson's attempt at the single coil fender sound...

It was very different I must say... but it was a cool piece of history.

The guitar's reincarnation is nothing like the original which had four pickups underneath the pickguard.
