As somebody who has seen a few electrical mishaps, you're fortunate that it didn't get you...I work for an electric utility and have seen some bad burns on my friends....and a few dead animals burnt to a crisp...not pleasant.

Glad that you are OK howardken52.

Let that be a lesson to all of us. If your guitar needs new strings, just throw the guitar away and get a new one, it isn't worth the risk.

We've become so used to electricity that our attitude towards it has become casual and we sometimes forget just how dangerous it can be and how quickly it can turn on you. You got away lucky for sure.BTW if the shock had finished you off would that have been Stratocide?

I almost died from changing my strings once.............

I left some string end clippings in the floor one day and my wife caught a .018 plain steel in between her toes  I would have been better off being electrocuted

For many years I took my used guitar strings and made really funky art projects out of them....not to mention you be surprised what handy things can be used from an old guitar string around the house or in the yard

It's 15 or 20 Amps! Might scare you and make you go ouch but thats about all it will do.

I have played and done tech work on some nice playing Squiers. I bought a large number of Squier 51's when they were discontinued and made nice money on them. Also modded a few for people. Mad Modders specials they were.

Currently I have no Squier guitars of my own but have a Saehan made Squier neck from the 90's in my small collection of necks.

Now days they seem nice but there are better out there. Plug up a good amp you can make many guitars sound good! But's it the comfort and feel you get with some of the higher quality stuff and that varies from one to the other.

This has always been a concern of mine as I have received electrical shocks a few times and enough to know that this is not the way to go. When I change strings which is very often, once I have removed, installed, and clipped the ends of the strings I take the old strings and short pieces removed and place them in a bag or the new string package and trash them. Not only can they be a hazard around your electrical equipment they hurt like heck if you step on one without shoes.
