Hi,

I am looking for more information on a guitar I have, Its a Guitar Center 25th Anniversary Strat. (Not Fender Anniversary) I have read info on the forum for the 30th Anniversary but found nothing on the 25th. unlike the 30th the 25th only had a run of 25 Guitars (Custom Shop) Mine is 11 of 25.

The guitar is Silver with a Silver Headstock. All black Scratchplate and knobs. Silver Lace Sensor Pick Ups with a Eric Clapton Style Mid Boost. neck plate says "Guitar Center 25th Anniversary 11 of 25" LRS Roller Nut, Schaller Locking Tuners. Made in USA with a Custom Shop decal on the back of the headstock.

CAn anybody shed any light on this guitar, I know it is 1989 because the 30th was released in 1994.

I have contacted Fender and GC and got nothing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Richie

Don't think it's Custom Shop, looks like an FSR version of a Stratocaster Plus to me.

Lovely though. 8)

It has Custom Shop on the back of the neck, Also I dont think it is production line because of the Active ERic Clapton unit, The guitar was painted after that was installed. I can tell when the pickguard is off.

You are right on the Strat Plus though, I have a 88 Strat Plus and it is very similiar with the LRS Nut and same bridge and Locking Tuners. Strat Plus has Gold Lace Sensors though, this has Silver.

Can you get some slightly more detailed pictures? Try the macro setting on your camera for closeups of the neckplate and the back of the headstock, as well as strong lighting. COA stands for certificate of authentication, although the guitar itself seems to be a hell of a certificate!

Email Rob Schwarz and he'll tell you what he can, think his data only goes back as far as 1993 though. :(

On a sidenote, that guitar is the same age as me. :D

I wish I had shoes that would last that long- they don't make things like they used to!

I suppose one day some whippersnapper on here will declare that, at the age of 18, my '01 Deluxe is the same age as him and the cycle will continue unabated!

Your time is coming!

As far as shoes lasting that long, I don't have any shoe that old, either...but a good pair of upper end Justin or Tony Lama boots will go through four pairs of soles and heels before the tops wear out (actually, they won't wear out, but Lady Armadillo won't allow me to wear them in public around her).

Will get more detailed photos up soon, On vacation at the moment so will get them up when I return.

Thanks fr all he info. Dont have a Certificate of Authencity, was bought secondhand in LA in 1999. I am told the Seriel number would be under the neck but dont want to risk taking it off.

Anybody any idea or what it would be worth? I have called guitar shops and they tell me its only worth what a Strat plus would be worth. Surely if there is only 25 in the world it adds value. Would never sell it though.

I have seen the same looking guitar on John Frusciante in The Red hot Chili Peppers "Cant Stop Video. Maybe its different though, but dont know off many Silver strats that have a silver headstock http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfOdWSiyWoc&ob=av2e

Lady Armadillo should be proud of the clearly well-used boots, it saves money so she can have more clothes/shoes/makeup/whatever stereotyped thing it is that women are after these days!

It's really not a big deal to take your neck off. Just slacken the strings, pop a capo on the 1st fret (stops the strings tangling!) and then unscrew. Easy peasy. :)

I'd say it's worth whatever two people are willing to pay for it on eBay, or whatever one person would pay for it. If I tried it and liked it, I'd give you upwards of $1,000 due to a decent exchange rate and the fact it's the same age as me.

Having checked the video, doesn't look like your guitar. It has two string trees, a normal nut, and from what I've read in Frusciante's interviews he doesn't like Strats that aren't vintage... but either way, your guitar is cool. Embrace it!

I've seen one other guitar from this run, this one seems to check out ok. I always found these CS runs for GC pretty interesting, the 29th Anniv. Models in particular.

Cool, Thanks for the info regarding the Frusiante guitar, at least I can rule that out.

Where did you come across another one of these? I was told that the top guys in Fender and in the Guitar Center would have got the first few.
