I'll be in New Orleans at the end of the month attending a trade show - I'll be staying near the Convention Center. I hope to have one or two nights free to take in some music - I would like to stay fairly close to home base. Any ideas from my Fender bretheren???

Try checking out this web site under entertainment/music. There are too many places to list but you'll find the type of live music that you like listed along with time and date. Have fun and enjoy The Big Easy my friend!! Do be careful and aware of your surroundings.

Its a great city to visit, plan you trip well and you will be rewarded. Some areas are as wild socially as the early 1800's. Be careful, especially at night. Stay with the tourists, if you drift off the beaten path at night you might not return.

The New Orleans police are very corrupt. Avoid them.

I will be interested to hear what you think after you return. I made the long walk from Bourbon St. to Frenchman St. to hear the "real" musicians and was not impressed. I did pass on paying a $30 dollar cover at one bar that looked like they had a better quality band on the bill.

Often musicians will meet on Jackson Square at night and have spontaneous jam sessions. You don't need to pay a dime, just walk up watch and listen. It's just guys playing for the joy of doing it.
