been looking quite a while for a "home/friends homes rig" ... been the Marshall/Vox/Blackstar route, and was getting good tones, but not GREAT tones.

i've been trying and trying to get the sound of my 1st amp, an ancient Fender combo w/no back & a painted over control plate leaving me no clue as to what exactly it was, I only know it fired a fist-full of tubes and pushed thru a 15" Chicago Jensen spkr.
It was black tolex with terribly smoke stained wheat grillcloth.

a week ago I went & "test drove" a new Blues Jr. and fell instantly in lust with it.
I immediately sent the cutout dimensions to have a custom tweed/oxblood 2x12" cab made for it.
just by chance, I tested the amp out with a new Mexican Fat-Strat, and immediately realized that it was remarkably more resonant than any guitar I already owned, including Am.Fenders Gibbys Epis Agiles and a few custom builds.....so, I bought the guitar too!!

I know, I know......a Mexi-guitar thru a Mexi-amp can't POSSIBLY sound great....but they DO !!
and the more different guitars I play thru the new amp, the better I like it.....seems like an EXELLENT "bang for my buck" amp !

gonna go play now :D i'll drop this little bit of porn on my way out.....

I LOVE the slightly "thicker" tone the bridge-bucker produces...it's my 1st Fat Strat of 3 Strats.

Image

as simple as it gets here....LOVE the true Master & Preamp controls, haven't had this type setup in about 5 yrs.

They're definitely doing something RIGHT at Fenders Mexican facility(s)!!

Nice gear Bender 4 Life. :D Is that "Cobalt Blue" on your Strat? I don't believe that anyone in their right mind has ever said that a MIM Strat and/or amp "can't possibly sound good". Obviously they can and do sound terrific. Congrats!

Love your little blue Fat Strat. I've got a black on black MIM Fatty, and it to is a sweet heart. Nothing wrong with MIM. 8) And in that light your Amp dose have a blue look to it.

A Blues Junior Tweed is definitely in the wish list.

I'm not sure about the Strat choice though since I have only 5 to consider...??
(1) CS 56 NOS sunburst
(2) MIM Crimson Red with SCN's
(3) Stratopartster I with SSS Vintage pups and TBX with 220 Cap
(4) Stratoparster II with SSH 2 Vintage 1 HB with coil switch 1TBX and 1Vol
(5) Transparent Blue Aerodyne Strat with Seymour Duncan's.....

That will do it, of course building a couple new strats is in the works...
Good choice on the amp as I think I like it better than my Black and Tan HRD

Congrats Bender!
I wish to follow in your footsteps.
So is the Blues Jr loud enough to rehearse with bass and drummer?
I wonder how it behaves at its loudest...
