Hey if this guys wants to be buried with HIS guitar no one else gets to pass judgment on him...his maker gets to do that. Is it a waste? From a practical side yes, but that is like missing the million dollars you didn't win in the lottery!

And stealing from the dead is only slightly less repulsive that pedophilia!

Only slightly? The dead guy doesn't have to live with the memory ahahahah your moral scale is a little off balance

Nope, my moral scale is just fine, both are reprehensable acts...and just another example of the morale decay our country is going through...this is why the progressives should be locked away like the crazy uncle...which is exactly what they are!

If the old codger was a Pharoah he could have taken all his gear, even a few mummified roadies to help him set up in the afterlife.
It's quite sad that he couldn't find a better use for the guitar.

@ Fenderguy1, I think that your Squier will be pretty safe at your funeral mate

Upon further thought, maybe the Tele was dead as well. The medical reports claimed it was as stiff as a board when they arrived on the scene, and though it responded to electric shock it was only a temporary fix so they decided to cut, well, unplug the cord >_>

Yep, a thief and a POS for stealing from the dead. It was that guy's treasured guitar and a dishonor to him to take it.

I'm embarassed that he's from my state, idiot scumbag!

This is one I feel two ways about.

Stealing is wrong. However, its also just a waste to bury that instrument. It will never sing again and on top of that totally ruined.

When my wife died, I buried her with her wedding ring and band and some other jewelry. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, a romantic notion, but looking back on it a waste. I would not do that again.

We all swimm in a sea of emotion. Sometimes we drown.

Have you met people who work at the cemetery or the funeral services?
They get callous.
"It´s a Telly!".

I think I would prefer to be cremated. And have friends play some rock tunes as they fire the oven. I have little to leave behind for my kids and my guitars will go to them. 8)

It appears that cremation would have saved a lot of trouble all around. Nothing left but bones, hardware and a few strings (maybe save the ash tray for a souvenir?) - now that's the way to go out!

If it were me, I'd have let the wife sell the Tele.

Honestly Why would someone steal a beautiful 40 year old Telecaster from a dead man? If i was dead i'd be buried with my guitar too (My Squier Affinity Strat) that is my prized guitar too

I don't think anyone in their right mind would go to the trouble and risk of digging you up to steal a Squier Affinity, kiddo. Hardly worth the effort.

While I certainly don't condone theft, this is an illustration of how irrational people can be when it comes to disposing of the dead. Unlike its late owner, that Telecaster still has plenty of life in it. Shame on the decedent for insisting on this primitive, superstitious ritual over the wellbeing of his family. That guitar should have been a treasured heirloom to remind them of the person they loved, or it could have been sold to provide them money in the event of an emergency. But burying it in a box with a rotting corpse? Pointless in the extreme. :?

a thread about a dead guy a Tele and a tardy opportunist. If this makes any of this more palpable:

MAN are people missing the point here. THE TELE DIDN'T BELONG TO THE THIEF, IT BELONGED TO THE DECEASED GUY. It was his prized posession, maybe he didn't have any family or friends that he WANTED to leave it to.

I don't agree with the whole burying tradition and have dictated in my will that they should hit the oven with my corpse.

But this man chose how he wanted to be buried, with his tele, and people should freakin respect that. Lament it's loss, realize how much it meant to the guy in the coffin and keep your d*mn hands off!
