I guess I will never understand it. in my eyes it is a selfish act and I have no sympathy for the "dead man". as for me, my father is leaving me his 59 les paul in his will and the day I die if my son does not play guitar it will go to a charity auction or something. not 6 feet under the earth to never be seen again  the money from that auction could feed allot of children. and after its purchase it will last forever in private collections. where is the down side of that?

Wait... wait.... your dad has a '59 Les Paul? Is it in the burst serial listings? If not, can I have some photos of it? Serious.

its just a cherry lp JR I should have been more specific lol the one with the single p90. next time I visit him in sc I will take some photos if you like.

EDIT: I had my sister send me some. i would have forgotten by the time i went to visit  i don't think he is the original owner or anything i don't remember seeing it when i was younger. just saw it here recently

its not worth a fortune but by the time i die it will be worth more

Hey if this guys wants to be buried with HIS guitar no one else gets to pass judgement on him...his maker gets to do that. Is it a waste? From a practical side yes, but that is like missing the million dollars you didn't win in the lottery!

And stealing from the dead is only slightly less repulsive that pedophilia!

Burying a guitar in a coffin and then digging it up-now that's what I call a heavy relic.

Maybe not quite everyone.

I love that guitar - great re-issue choice. Wilshires, Crestwoods, one of the few really vintage shapes that appeals to me.

Honestly Why would someone steal a beautiful 40 year old Telecaster from a dead man? If i was dead i'd be buried with my guitar too (My Squier Affinity Strat) that is my prized guitar too

All I can say is it's a good thing the poor fella was dead already. Being confined in a box, the nitrocellulose would have got him for sure.

That or preserved him...
