http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/man_faces_jail_after_stealing_vintage_guitar_from_coffin.html?no_takeover

when i read this i freaked :o if i died i'd probably be buried with my first guitar (which has served me very well and leave my other guitars to the wife and kids (at least the kids would know what to do with them i hope) and one for my niece (she's getting to be very talented)...

well back to the topic... jeez what lack of respect for the dead sure it's an expensive guitar but if you lived with it all your life my guess is you feel that it's already a part of you sure you wanna go down with it by your side... i think what he did was wrong many people are saying they agree and would do the same... it's the guitar of this mans life and that must not be forgotten

Nice post Ralf!
Made me wonder what would I have done. Had I gotten away with something like that, the guilt would grow and I would become scared of such an axe. Imagine putting it back on a rainy night!

So proud he's from my state

A terribly disrespectful thing to do, luckily he told someone about it first or he may have gotten away with it.

Seems like it would be a "haunted" guitar though

 The whole thing gives me the creeps. Especially the part about being somewhat trapped in a guitar store commercial. Kind of sacrilegious. Don't you think?

I would have kept my mouth shut and then taken it  the guy is dead I dont think he will miss it much. its not like he can take it with him :P I never understood being berried with possessions......... its just stuff. if Donald trumps last wish was to be buried with all of his assets in gold, do you honestly think it would happen?

his dying wish should have been for someone else to love and care for it like he did... not let it rot in a coffin with him  no tele should be worm food  I have the same feeling when I see a nice classic car rotting in a yard and the old man refuses to sell it to me because "he loves it". so he just lets it rot away so no one can ever enjoy it. shameful

yeah but it's the wish of a dying man i can't really get why someone would steal it heck he could be one of those guys who feel that his tele was always there for him and he just wanted it there with him

I guess I will never understand it. in my eyes it is a selfish act and I have no sympathy for the "dead man". as for me, my father is leaving me his 59 les paul in his will and the day I die if my son does not play guitar it will go to a charity auction or something. not 6 feet under the earth to never be seen again  the money from that auction could feed allot of children. and after its purchase it will last forever in private collections. where is the down side of that?

I'm going to Wisconsin for Christmas next year. I'll tell you guys how degraded it is and how well it plays.
