I only learned about Danny after he was no longer with us.
What a great guy man. The hot licks tape I saw was a game changer for me and I can only imagine the privilege some had to have him for a friend!

Was really appreciating Danny at time of his passage. What a tragedy.

Along with another late, great 'tele-master' Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton was from my neck of the woods. AKA: "the world's greatest unknown guitarist."

Ironically I was on the west coast touring with band playing at the old "Palms Playhouse" on CA when the news traveled from east to west about is passing. It was a very sad day.
