Since acquiring my iPad 2, I've been having some fun with Amplitube Fender, Digitech's iPB-10 (programmable pedalboard) and some of the Korg apps (synth, kaoss pads) but wondering what other cool apps (not just music) are you guys using?

Facetime is a great one - better than Skype, imo. I also have a lot of photography apps
for effects, overlays, etc.

Echofone is my connection to Twitter and don't even bother with adding music as the
worldwide web stations along with Pandora, TuneinRadio, 5-0, and others offer just about anything I want to hear.

I'm not heavy into gaming, but do like "Words with friends" and a few others, but still curious as to what else you folks are using and liking? :D

Oh yeah, I do have Cydia and Installous.

When is the Fender Forum app due out?

add in android to the thread title!!! Many people use it, and unfortunately seem to miss out on some of the apps that are just for apple, such as:

The Guitarist Magazines Top 50 Guitars of All Time(I think that is what its called). They also have another one I think, don't know what it is. And you can read their magazine on your device.

I heard garage band is very intuitive on the ipad. How do you like it? I been thinking about getting one by the end of this year but I'm not sure...

I feel like whenever I get some apple product they always come out with a newer model... should I just wait for them to make the ipad 3 (when will they?)

Garageband is too much like a toy on the iPad, IMO. iLife 11 version on a MacBook Pro or similiar is a much different animal.

The release of iPad 3 is pushed back to next year (tentatively April) to allow for more
visibility with the new iPhone 5 or 4G release next week (they're still not sure what to call it but the media is saying iPhone 5?).

One of my favorites was the guitar app. Also, Fender had a special edition My Touch for T-Mobile. My uncle has one. I'm pretty jelly of it. It has the classic sunburst finish for the cellphone 8)

If you're into games, all the hit games from MikaMobile, Inc. (Zombieville USA, OMG! Pirates!, and Battleheart) are great, not to mention they feature music composed and produced by a Fender Lounge member (who is currently working on games for Umizato Games and PixelTap Studios, too).

Also, if you're already a fan, Zombieville USA II will be out next month.

Apps I use all the time include DP Control (total remote control of Digital Performer via WiFi), Pulse (news aggregator) and Flipboard, and the New York Times Crossword Puzzle.

"ClearTune" for the iPhone. Take a tuner with you everywhere you go. Pretty good tuner, too! Very sensitive.

"Reverse Chord Finder For Guitar" is a useful tool.

"Chordmaster" by Planet Waves is also a useful tool.

"Decibel" is interesting although I rarely have any use for it.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Hitpad
Flipboard
My Sketch

That's true, but the one good thing about them is that they last forever. I'm typing this on the Apple MacBook I've had for nearly five years and have never had a problem with. My Dad still runs a plotter (vinyl cutting tool for making signs) with an Apple desktop from 1996. In fact, we had older Apples that still ran too, but my Mom finally made my Dad put them out on the curb. As far as smaller devices go I had a couple of early iPods quit on me (partly because of the extreme amounts of use they got), but I've had the same one for almost three years now and it's still going strong.

Anyway, sorry about the Apple fan girl monologue. Back on topic...

Go gaming Angry Birds is a must. Frisbee Forever is a fun free game as is Sky Burger.

For music there's:
-Tempo if you need a metronome.
-Wolfgang's Vault for hours and free live music from everyone from AC/DC to SRV.
-Gibson has an app with a tuner which I use for tuning emergencies.
-iReal b, a virtual real book. It's not free though.
-Virtuoso, a virtual keyboard. It's great for showing someone a chord progression when your guitar's not handy.
-Shazam, for finding out what songs you hear on the radio are and who they're by.
-Musician's Friend's Stupid Deal of the Day app, for relieving GAS. ;)

For goofing off there's iFart (yes really, iFart), Songify (it turns whatever you speak into a song), and Talking Tom.

Instagram is a cool free photoshop-esque app. A flashlight app is also a must. Food Finder is good for finding restaurants.

And there's streaming internet radio. Everyone's heard of Pandora, but I like Slacker and Stitcher too.

...And by now you've probably figured (correctly) that I'm some kind of Apple fanatic/tech geek. My gearheadedness extends beyond guitars.
