I need a little help. I'm a novice and not sure about electrical requirements. I recently bought a Fender 25R amp. It sounds pretty good with both my Martin Acoustic and Gretsch guitars. However, when I turn the volume up above 3 on the amp while playing the Gretsch the speaker rattles. This is not loud. I like this little amp but think I need a better speaker. I'm looking at a Celestion G10N-40 which is a 30 watt, 10", 8 ohm speaker. What is in there now is a 8 ohm, 10" speaker but I'm not sure of the wattage. I have checked the owner's manual and there is not a lot of info on the speaker. I assume that the 25 on the model number means 25 watts. Here's my questions: Is this a 25 watt speaker? If it is a 25 watt speaker, will I have a problem using a 30 watt speaker. I ask this because I can't find a 25 watt Celestion speaker at a reasonable price to put in the $100 amp.

People use Celestion Vintage 30s with Hot Rod Deluxes, which are rated at 40w.

On this basis, I'd say not at all, unless you're really hammering all twenty-five humungous watts and turn on the warp factor!

An Eminence Ragin' Cajun or a Copperhead would also be a significant improvement over the chicom-made OEM speaker.
