I'm glad you lived to talk about it. Please don't do that again.

I used to kick it up to over 100 mph in the mustang and on the motorcycle, but as a volunteer EMT I have helped to "clean up" after accidents involving high speeds; it's not pretty. That is an experience that will change your driving habits.

Even on a flat straight empty road things can go very wrong. Hit a raccoon at 100 mph maybe you'll hang on and maybe you won't. BTW, I live in North Dakota, all the roads here are flat, straight and empty and I've had the little shovel out way too many times.

Nassau Blue and it is a dead ringer for LPB...I almost bought a LPB 60s Classic Series Strat just because of the Vette, but, something about the CAR got me!

In North Carolina where I live if you are cited for driving more than 15 miles over the speed limit it is an automatic wreckless driving charge, which means an automatic suspension of your driver's license for one year and skyrocketing insurance once you get it back for the next two years.

Oh, and don't even THINK of driving while your license is suspended in NC. If caught driving while suspended they suspend your license for another full year. If you get caught a third time driving suspended it is permanent and you can never legally drive again the rest of your life in NC. If you then go to another state to get a license, say Virginia, and get stopped in NC again then you go to jail and have to pay a bond to get out.

South Carolina indeed does write tickets for ridiculous charges like the 2 MPH over mentioned above. I always slow down when I go through SC and sometimes wish I could go around it to get to GA.

Getting a good lawyer in NC can help get speeding tickets reduced to "improper equipment" or sometimes you can get a "prayer for judgment" which means you pay court costs and get no insurance points. But on the prayer for judgement plea if you get another speeding ticket within 3 years the original charge and insurance points will then kick in.

Just saying, be thankful you weren't in NC or SC when you messed up BIG TIME. KUDOS to you for owning up to it. You are lucky you live where you do. Nice car by the way!

SC spends a fortune on promoting tourism then once the police see the out of state plate they nail you.

Isn't there an electronic limiter on these cars? It must be set pretty damn high.

Tires are not even rated for that kind of speed. For those that use kilometers... that is 228 KM an hour. Ridiculous.

I would throw your butt in jail and cube your car. You have 30 minutes to remove your cube from the area or your cube will be towed at your expense. 8)

The average limiter is set at 155mph/250km/h. German agreement. Even then, it doesn't always work- it's only applied to a 'certain' gear generally. Pops had a BMW M5 that was 'limited' to 155mph, but only in 5th gear. As soon as you hit 6th, it kept on going until the far side of 170.

On a track.

Don't cube me.

Four years ago after giving my Senior Project Presentation I decided to celebrate by driving too fast (I think it was around 80 in a 35 zone). I was following my buddy who was going considerably faster than me (He was the valedictorian of the class lol) Anyways, I was rounding the bend when a Buick was in my lane (Or maybe I was in hers, can't remember), so when I corrected of course I spun out, did a 360 and hit a small tree. I wasn't injured, I just had to deal with the joy of a speeding ticket (I told em I went 50 >_>), $2200 worth of car damage (to a car that cost $4000), the neighbor yelling at me for driving too fast, and the wonderful feeling of my friends laughing at me while I was pretty much in shock (none of them stopped, shows how good of friends I had I guess). Shortly thereafter I went out and bought my first guitar, because saving money seemed kind of pointless then so I might as well have a little fun. <_<

Since I started doing HPDEs, I've slowed down on the streets and highways, knowing that speeds can be done safely on the track.

Brotherdave you are exactly right about SC driving laws... they are out for blood here.

Its not too bad in the Hub City, but certain areas like Cowpens is pretty bad. Columbia is pretty terrible as well...

But 149 is just pretty ridiculous... I just don't understand what justifies going that fast on a road. Maybe if you were doing laps around a track...

I think the band could wait...
