Okay, I was running late to a show today and got nabbed for doing 142 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. There was nobody on the road but me and it was dead straight for 20 miles. My license has been suspended for 30 days and I now have two DMV points and a highly elevated insurance premium and to top it off I was kicked from my band for being an hour late to said show. SO this topic is now dedicated to really stupid things that we have been nabbed for while driving.

Sorry to hear that. 142 is very fast. Can you take driving classes to lower your insurance back down. I know some places allow that. Maybe talk to the Judge about any option to dismiss it. You will still have to pay, take classes, or community service but at least it could be off your record.

California does not allow traffic school for speeds over 100 mph. And please don't tell me you're sorry about it the fact of the matter is that I did something incredibly stupid and now i'm paying for it. I do not plan to fight it in court, I just plan on "doing my time" and moving on with my life

Here in Canada if you got caught doing that speed under that speed limit your vehicle would be impounded and you would go to jail. Count yourself lucky.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

If it'd been within Roseville city limits they prolly would've locked you up. They're pretty brutal there.

What's the procedure for getting your vehicle returned?

Arjay

This one time in 2007 my Mom was nabbed for doing over 180 in a 50 zone. She had a fine of $300 for doing it. Lucky...

142mph? What the heck were you driving?

Bummer.. still, at least nobody died.

Getting the bum's rush from your band is a bit harsh isn't it? After all, it's not as if you weren't making an effort to correct your lateness. They may care to reflect on what else your efforts to get to the gig had cost you..!!

Ah well, another chapter in your personal Rock n Roll archives 8)

I must be really boring - I don't recall any personal or professional screw ups of any consequence. I once played (piano) half of a Supertramp medley in the wrong key, but that's hardly life n death is it? I don't think anybody in the largely disinterested bar crowd even noticed..
