We'd been shopping on Tuesday and seeing as we'd finished early and were within spitting distance of a new music store that had opened , in I went .
The choice was really good and when I explained to one of the guys there that I wasn't actually going to buy a guitar, I was just looking, he said "try them if you want " so I did!!
Now this is just my own personal opinion.
I tried an American special ash bodied strat, in sienna burst, with s1 switching , maple board....really heavy, great tones , but just didn't like the neck (think it was compound radius).
Then tried a 3 colour burst re-issue jaguar (weird really, I realised I'd never actually played one before!), That was NICE!. Liked everything about it.
Next up came a re-issue 70's strat, cream colour, maple board. This was one of my favourites, just FELT right.
Then onto the Pawn shop series, I tried a mustang blue, racing stripe, rosewood board,(really nice, not too heavy), nice sound from the buckers and even tried the trem, which I found fine.
Then, one Ive always wanted to try... A 51 !!. The finish was good (very murky blond) the neck was awesome , action excellent and tones amazing.
Last, but by no means least, came something I've only ever seen in the flesh once before........................A Duosonic!!. this little baby was really easy to play, the sound coming out of it was unreal, nice very low action, good finish on body and neck and really easy to do bends on.
All of these were played through a Fender amp ( a blues junior) .
What surprised me, was vitually all the Fenders, apart from the American specials were made in Japan, and the finish quality was excellent.

Every Duosonic I've ever picked up played really easy and had awesome tone. Probably one of the most underrated short scale axes ever.

Here I go showing off my ignorance again. What is a Duosonic? I don't believe I've ever seen one. Are they something new or old? Just what are they anyway?
