ok. i usually go to the melbourne RCH to have MRI's, but this time seeing my dad is the manager of engineering at the golburn valley health, i had todays MRI there. seeing that no doctors at golburn valley have my previous MRI results, there sending the results down to my main doctor, the stroke doctor, and he'll say if theres anything wrong. right after i had a glimpse of the images, it was interesting to see where the stroke happened, and comparing the left side and right side.

Good you went there ... and it's always favorable to keep the same doctors involved. Well done!

All the best

David

question; can you spot a aneurysm on a MRI?

Have a look at the links Amerigo posted above, as long as you are asking. Need angiography...studies using IV contrast media to visualize the blood vessels supplying the brain....not unlike what is done to evaluate the blood supply to the heart.

Yes. And most of the other things around blood vessels. So it's good you made an MRI. I'm not saying you have an aneurysm, OK? It's just a possibility which has to be excluded in terms of differential diagnosis. It's a medical procedure where you first look for the most severe cause of symptoms. So I'm not guessing around, I follow this procedure.

You'll get the results quickly, because your stroke doctor knows about your history. Since you don't have the symptoms right now, you can relax.

Cheers

David

I've got no advice Riley - just continued good wishes. You seem to be coping well in what sounds like a stressful situation. Do you get to play much lately?

That by itself is something that shouldn't be put off for too long. Is it a doctor who does the counseling? Maybe you want to take up yoga lessions, and learn about breathing in a way that supports you. There's quite a lot you can do about it yourself.

Cheers

okay, just had the call from the stroke doctor (which i just found out today is one of the best stroke doctors in the world  ), he compared the MRI i had the other day to the one i had a year and a bit ago and.....

nothings changed. no aneurysm's, no clots, no new problematic blood vessels. the only thing he noticed is the scar, which i've had ever since. he also looked at the MRI of my neck. nope. fine.

*sigh of relief*. he said i'm over reacting to what anyone else would have just ignored, and that i most likely have anxiety/panic disorder as a result.

thank you everyone for supporting me through this, it really did help :)

*sigh* good to hear you're OK. Now that we have the medical causes sorted out, let's learn some breathwork, Yoga, relaxation, meditation, whatever ....

8)

Cheers

IMHO, anyone with your medical history who did NOT react with concern given the symptoms you described may already be dead. There may be collateral issues with regard to the nature of your response but a sense of alarm should not be viewed as 'over-reacting.'' I am pleased to learn that that there are no additional organic findings beyond those already present. Get back to your life, stay cool, but never become complacent.

Doc
