Symptoms of a stroke,or a heart attack should not be ignored--but especially a stroke, as there is usually less time to act.

It's better to get it checked out & find out it's "only" a panic attack or something else, than to not get it checked out and find out too late it was a stroke or a heart attack.

I still think they should make an MRI or CT. This is the only way to discover a problematic blood vessel in your head. And they should check the thrombocytes in your blood.

If you were my son, I'd do everything to get you properly tested.

Cheers

Think good thoughts Riley - and see if you can manage some time in guitar shops while you're in Melbourne. Tell your parents it's occupational therapy, if nothing else it can be a happy distraction

With your symptoms and medical history, I would consider you an emergency. Just make sure they do it soon, OK? And if you have the symptoms again, you *are* absolutey an emergency case.

Did the doctors check anything else? You reported numbness on one side of your face and you wrote you felt light-headed. Did they check your cranial nerves 7 and 8? Did they check the upper part of your spine? These are the sympoms of an issue with a nerve, or it can be morbus meuniere, a problem with the inner ear.

I suppose the doctor performed all these tests but didn't tell you what he was doing, right?

Cheers

I am assuming, and taking for granted, that you've had the benefit of both neurosurgical and neurological consultations of competence. Australian medicine is NOT in the pits to the best of my knowledge and belief. However, throughout the discussion of your history you've never said that you've undergone a cerebral angiogram. I, for one, would be interested in the status of the blood vessels supplying your brain, which CT, nor MRI are going to be diagnostic for. We continue to assume that this may be a vascular issue and nothing more. All best wishes, and DO keep us posted.

Doc

"Vascular" issues in the brain can be lethal. This is why it is an emergency and this is why I keep insisting on him having a proper examination. I am thinking in the direction of an aneurysm, grade 2 or 3.

Best regards

David

ok. i usually go to the melbourne RCH to have MRI's, but this time seeing my dad is the manager of engineering at the golburn valley health, i had todays MRI there. seeing that no doctors at golburn valley have my previous MRI results, there sending the results down to my main doctor, the stroke doctor, and he'll say if theres anything wrong. right after i had a glimpse of the images, it was interesting to see where the stroke happened, and comparing the left side and right side.

Agreed that your deeply concerned friends around the world are filling your information cup full. It appears that you are in good hands. We wish you all the best and do keep us updated on your circumstances. I am confident that you do not require any further clinical education from us.

Good you went there ... and it's always favorable to keep the same doctors involved. Well done!

All the best

David
