i dunno how i'm gonna say this, but bare with me;

as some of you know, i had a major stroke when i was 9, in 2005, on the left side of my brain, affecting my right side by giving me spasticity.
lately i've been feeling extremely weird, meaning i've had brief symptons of stroke. i thought i could sleep on it, deep down inside i was extremely worried. today i had to go in; 7 hours ago, in maths class, i started to feel light headed and my right side of my face went numb, for about half a minute. so i thought, '$@!& it, its do or die now'. so iasked my teacher if i could go to the sick bay, i said i was feeling a bit weird, he thankfully said yes. i got there, and was still feeling a bit dizzy. the whole time i was thinking, 'please if there is a god, let me live i dont want another one', i almost cried and i freely admit i was terrified. the symptoms gradually went away, my dad came and picked me up. i said to him, 'i'm feeling dizzy, feel lke i'ma pass out'. he said if anything else happens to let him know an he'll call 000. i had my first asprin in about a year when i got home, tasted horrible ( ). i was and am still worried like $@!&, i think i'm still shaking.
the symtoms have gone away, for now, but we've called the doctor and he'll tell us what to do in a couple of minutes. as i recall, the first time i stroked it happened so suddenly, so this is probably just a mini stroke. this is the scardest i've been ever since 2005.

i'll keep you updated

please, if any of you ever have any of the symptoms of a stroke, call an ambulance immediatly! i didn't when i had mine, i can not begin to describe how hell-like it is to survive one. act F.A.S.T (face, arm, speech, time to dial)

Hello Riley, it scared me too. I'm sorry that you had to go through that again. I haven't had one in 3 years. I had 3, each of the 3 years previous. I think of it every day, more like thanks for not happening today. Sounds like you are in good care, this makes it better little Bro. Superbig Chicago mojo headed your way Riley.

well i had another asprin. my doctor said its highly unlikely as its been 6 years, he thinks i have a virus, but he said to be extremely careful and to call 000 if anything happens. so basically i'm on stand by.

sorry to hear about your scare riley. hope all goes well and one day they can find a permanent solution to your situation. it really hurts to hear about someone so young getting harnessed by a stroke. hang in there :!:

I'm an osteopath, working in the field of craniosacral therapy. What I hear often is that strokes happen after accidents but people tend to miss the correlation.

So if you fall from a bicycle, run into an obstacle, fall from a ladder or something, don't just take it as a trivial thing, whach your body for a couple of minutes. And if you feel you have funny sensory experiences (voices, colors, body sensations, thoughts), call for help ASAP.

dharma47: did you have a MRI/CT done?

Cheers

David

Go see a doctor.

Your symptoms could also be related to low blood pressure. You need a doctor to have a medical checkup.

Good luck.

David

i doubt that its low blood pressure, my stroke in 2005 was a hemorrhage stroke, caused by extremely high blood pressure. and also, my family has a history of insanely high blood pressure, particually my dads side. heck, almost everyone on my dads side is on warfrin.
but it could be, thanks for your input

Sounds like you might have had a TIA - Transient Ischaemic Attack.

My Dad had one and it frightened us all half to death, but he was fine after a few hours. It was a warning though, and he had some tests done which revealed 2 serious blockages in the vessels that lead up to the brain. A reduction of 75% in blood flow. He went on to have these by-passed - "just in time" - according to the surgeon. That was 15 years ago and he's 75 now and as fit as a flea.

You're obviously aware of your situation and I'm sure you've done whats necessary. Thanks for warning all members here. People, sometimes if you become ill, even briefly, dont just sit back and think, "well I'm ok now so no worries". Get it checked out..

Hi Riley: serious stuff. I'm curious that since your school teachers presumably know your medical history they didn't just send you immediately to hospital to be checked out. So much better safe than sorry, right? Let's not take chances.

Lot of people here very sympathetic over what you have to deal with. We're rooting for you. Very best of luck.

Cheers - C

Good Vibes being sent to you from Texoma...I agree with others that you ought to go to Emergency. Doctoring by phone has caused many a mid-level crisis to escalate to something much worse...
