I was wondering how to get T-Bone Walker tone (I know he had a Gibson with 3 P90s and it gave an out of phase sound) out of my Gretsch or even my Taylor T5. I know that's probably a longshot, but I don't have enough money, nor would I want to spend money on a new guitar.

I'm also using a 6 year old Fender Hot Rod amp.

Any ideas would be fantastic! Thanks!
Mike

Hi Mike.
How´s your Gretsch handling the job?
I know great engineers work by substracting, rather than adding frequencies.
Perhaps you could add a graphic eq to your chain to carve the sound you have in mind.
It´s nice because you can get that extra personality by stomping in and out, a nice addition to the use you make of your pickup switching.

Is the graphic EQ like a pedal? And I haven't tried my gretsch quite yet. I'm just tying to figure out a way to really describe his tone. Like does it have lots of mid and bass and lay back on treble? I suck at trying to figure things out like that haha.

That did help a lot. Thanks tbazzone. What are some tips for warming up ones tone? Do I just roll back the treble on my amp?
