Had a very good year this year.
Extra cash abounds.
Excess beckons me.
Torn between two ideas
Help me choose.

I don't know how you are fixed as far as amps or guitars are concerned but if you have a good guitar then I'd go for the amp.

I vote guitar. If you already have an amp you are happy with, I say start adding guitars to the collection.

Thanks for your votes, folks. So far I am leaning with the crowd in favour of the VK. I had a VK in my house for the weekend one time about 5 or 6 years ago and loved it to death. It pained me to watch it leave my music room when the weekend was over. I owned a PRS Custom 22 quilt top around that same time and sold it to buy a Les Paul so in hind sight I guess it wasn't something I couldn't live without. The allure of those gorgeous 10 tops still piques my curiosity sometimes but I also know the VK is without a doubt in my mind the best amp Fender has made in the last 25 years or more. Nothing is written in stone yet though. I'm still stuck here at this job out of town so I won't make a decision until I get home.

Well, I guess neither one of those deals is going to work out, both for different reasons. Maybe it wasn`t meant to be. I guess I'll have to find another way to treat myself to something nice. Maybe I'll do something more conventional like wait until late January and spend 2 weeks in Cancun at the peak of the cold spell.

Yes, those deals definitely fell through.

I've had a change of heart on just exactly how I will spend a little money on myself. I decided to buy something a little less glamorous than a new quilt top guitar or a smokin' amp and have chosen instead to mod some of what I already have. I placed an order for a pair of Celestion Golds for the Rivera, a pair of Blues for the Egnator and a couple of Fulltone pedals. I've always really liked any Fulltone pedal I ever tried so I ordered a '69 and a GT500. If you've had experience with either of these pedals please feel free to expound.
