If it wears off easily, it is likely nitro. Starts off shiny, then gets dull over time. The satin finished bodies look dull compared to the gloss. Black is black, there aren't different shades of black on Fenders.

There is more than one Fender black. Montego Black and Metallic black come to mind as other black Fender colors and there may be more.

What is pictured is no doubt a vintage nitro finish.

BTW, that is a very artsy photo. Would make a good poster!

i know of two people with those and its just kinda road worned patchy like on the front but its borderline greenish red worn on the back, great tone, not solid black really anywhere on the guitar except on the right side of the body kinda, like i said its patchy worn

What you are looking at is a "Joe Strummer" Tele from the Fender Custom Shop.



The original was a '66 sunburst body ,sprayed sometime in the 70s with a blue/grey primer and black automotive paint.
It got various stickers and grafitti as Joe gigged with the Tele extensively, no doubt has some natural wear but looks to be heavly sanded all over.

PS. Joe was the singer in a band called "The Clash"
