If he were still alive????????????

My opinion: He always used and tried the best and most unique equipment available so my vote is

Fender Strat
Either Ernie Ball Regs or Fender Bullet End Regs
Dunlop Tortex Yellows
Jekyll & Hyde Distortion/Overdrive
Vox Handwired Original Wah
Digitech Whammy
Electro Harmonix POG
Electro Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe or Boss Chorus Ensemble

Hed still be cranking the Marshalls, he might be messin around with modeling amps a little like the Line 6 Spider or the Mustang

Im sure he would incorporate MXR Phase 90, Rotovibe, Tremolos, and various delays in recording

My vote would be:
Fender stratr
Fender Vibrolux Reverb RI for surf recordings
Marshall JCM 800 Head and cabs
same pedals as before but new
Vox Wah
Fuzz face
Octavia
and a added crybaby wah too just in case the vox goes

Well not eaxctly, id see him use it more as an harmony effect and make some crazy combos with the POG and for precise dive bombs, like how Jack White did it, Im sure ed still have a real one, but seeing as how tuning your guitar after every songs is really annoying after awhile, hed get much use

im sure hed try out PRS and have a model or two seeing as how Mr. Santana switched to em, his Strats would probably be American Deluxe or somethin not as mass produced as just the Standard Strat

Maybe something like a cross between what Gilmour uses and what Clapton uses. :?:

I really feel that he still would be playing a Strat with a Roland GR-55 guitar synthhttp://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1148&ParentId=53.

My reasoning is that live there were quite a few songs he couldn't play that were recorded, because the effects were created in the studio by either recording his tracks and playing them backwards, or to mimic other instruments.

He would be able to create the tonal colors he wanted with a GR-55.

Also his home demos would probably be great, since he could either record to PC or a stand-alone recorder.

Again, my reasoning is that I have a bootleg of his demos of songs that he recorded on a small reel-to-reel that ended up on 'Electric Ladyland'.

He most likely would have added drums, recorded bass tracks, along with his guitar & vocal tracks.

Some good remarks, but I think that if he were still alive there would be things around that don't exist today....think about that.
He was a pioneer in electric sound, one friend of mine said he considered Hendrix to be the first true "electric guitarist"....and some effects were being made and altered for him to get the sound he wanted.
I honestly think that we can't even imagine what he would be using or what we would be hearing if he were still alive,...or had lived even 10-15 more years.
I think a Strat would have always been in the front running of guitars along with Marshall amps for the most part...but effects, who knows? we're looking back through a glass, darkly.

If he were to continue his growth as an artist (see the progression from Are You Experienced to Band of Gypsies), he might have surprised us and eschewed a lot of his effects as time went on...or he might pile them on.

He didn't seem to be very sentimental regarding instruments, so he may or may not have tried new(er) things like PRS, Parker Fly, etc.

However, if he had kept on the path most of us think, he probably would play other guitars but always return to the Stratocaster...he would have the Custom Shop at his beck and call, so Lord only knows what types of little details he would ask for...

Effects-wise, he missed out on something that I think would have become his bread and butter--the MXR Phase  90. Imagine his mind combined with that box!
Other effects that we would probably see on his board at various times:
Flange. MXR? ADA? EH? Something Roger Mayer thought up? Who knows...but he definitely would have put that effect to good use.
Big Muff or some similar sustain-inducing monster.
Various Fuzz Faces, but maybe a newer fuzz. His fuzz progression might have gone from Fuzz Face to a Foxx tone machine to an Expandora to ?
Wah (of course).
Delay/Echo.
Some sort of Uni-Vibe device.
A reverse delay like what Danelectro made a few years ago, or a Boomerang (which would reverse a loop).
A looper...can you imagine his mind with THAT box?!?
A EH POG...
Maybe a Whammy.

Of course, assuming he stayed relevant, he could have signature pedals of every sort made by anyone from a boutique maker to a large-scale manufacturer like Dunlop.

But something we don't know is this: Would he have stayed relevant (like Eric Clapton) or would he be sharing a bill with Steppenwolf at the Choctaw Casino in Durant, OK?
Would he be stuck playing "Purple Haze" forever, or would he be doing that willingly?
Would he have progressed and recorded an album with Miles Davis or formed a group like the Manavishnu Orchestra, or would he have cut a disc with Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy?
Would he have seen the genius of artists like Nevin, Ceri and SuperKid, or would he be blind to their talents?
Would he have embraced people who copped a bunch of his licks, like Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Ernie Isley?
Would he have embraced heavy metal? (I don't think so, but we don't know).

...or would he end up bloated and sad and dead at 42 like Elvis?

Ultimately, we were deprived of a bunch of great music because of drug use.

If he were alive today he would be clawing at the coffin lid, screaming "I'm not dead!", and trying to get out.

Hendrix was so far ahead of his time, no one could guess what he would be using now.
