Can't imagine where he would be right now if he were still alive.

There was one thread that I am aware of.

He was so far ahead of his time. Makes me wonder where we would be musically now.
I'm also curious as to what guitar/amp/fx he would be using now.

Yeah, I was gonna post but was busy all weekend. Yesterday I did have the chance to listen to disc 1 of the new Winterland set http://www.amazon.com/Winterland-Box-Set-Amazon-com-Exclusive/dp/B0055PL5KO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316472774&sr=8-1.

Even though I had the bootlegs for years, it was worth hearing a clean version of the original soundboard recording. It's just like you're there IMO.

Some have said that Hendrix was ahead of his time. I Respectively disagree. It's My feeling that it was exactly his time, and the world was primed and ready for someone exactly like him to come along. The Twangy Electrified music of the previous years, was not fitting for the acts of violence and war of the Mid 60's. We needed something new and crazy. Our Mr. Hendrix was there and ready. He really gave it to us, and we were loveing it all. Thank you Sir for the music and excitement. Another post said that God himself tuck you home with him, so that you could give him guitar lessons, I agree, teach him well old friend teach him well. :( 8)

I have to plead guilty here-I was the one who posted yesterday that today was the 41st Ann. of loosing Jimi.I think that if Jimi were alive now he'd be creating lush electric symphonies in the rock/jazz/blues fusion vein. When Jimi died they were in talks with jazz great Gil Evans about doing a collaboration album with Jimi and Gil writing and playing their own new things as well as cowriting new material.

The brilliant writing on Cry Of Love and Rainbow Bridge-a.k.a. South Saturn Delta goes to show that Jimi's music had tamed and matured quite a bit and was headed off on a new tangent. We had only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the beautiful music that Jimi had left in his brilliant mind and soul and had not come to the fore yet. Maybe that's what he has in mind to show us in the next world after all.

Since I was a teenager at the time he was here in the Nashville area it's always amazed me that he was here playing the smoky bars and joints with Billy Cox and they were doing the R&B thing..then he shot to the top of the music world like he was out of nowhere...playing to the world's most famous musicians and they were envious of him....Billy Cox once said that Jimi had a friend make him a 50 ft. guitar cord and he would walk out the front door of a club and be playing his guitar on the sidewalk! :D
I think that was on Jefferson St. in Nashville....amazing...on the sidewalk, and then a couple of years later in front of thousands.
