Corona didn't seem to be exactly the world's vacation spot but there are some other sights and sounds around there which you might care to take in as long as you are in the area. Do some planning, and prepare for some driving in heavy traffic. My suggestion would be to try to go out to the Visitor's Center off season and midweek. Find out when the heavy days are and avoid them.

Best traffic times are strictly midday. But for the tour you gotta be there at 10 or 11.30 am. But the good thing, going out of OC/LA area you are going against the traffic so it's all good. Thursday is somehow the worst traffic day. I'd recommend Monday or Tuesday to go.

I'll keep that in mind for my next foray out west. However, doing the 101>405S out of Calabasas on Wed Aug 31 heading for LAX around 10:00 AM was a snails pace. To make Corona from there for a 10:00 am ETA would put me in prime time rush hour and I would figure on leaving Calabasas at 8:00 to go 405S>10E which I figure is probably the most direct route of the possibles. Ya think??

The usual and customary route to a Custom Shop guitar is to place the order through a Showcase Dealer once you've decided what you want. Some orders can be straight Custom Shop [aka Teambuilt] others must be Masterbuilt. Design, woods, and other options are the determining factor. You'll get a quote back from Fender through the dealer and then you wait.......awhile.......a long while. Masterbuilt guitars have the added feature of putting you one on one with the luthier who you've chosen to build it. Whether the Visitor's Center is going to be a portal to the Custom Shop ordering process is unknown to me but, even so, I doubt you're going to walk out of there with a same day guitar and I also doubt if they would be selling any instruments, if at all, at less than MSRP. Why go into competition with the dealers?

So, thanks for the heads up I will look into that.I wouldnt begin to know how to price it.I would think that any built guitar would be void of serial since it is essentially your design and not in the purpose of selling or holding any value.I want it for me becasue I know what I'm looking for and its a culmination of different things. And in the picture it looks like they have finished parts there and you pick and choose??Or at least pick out a stock body and say I want such and such done is what I gather.I'm hoping to not spend more than a grand if possible. So we will see!

$1000  ......The CS logo "When you're ready'' means just that. Go into the Custom Shop link in the products section and find the MSRP price list on the Custom Shop guitars. These are not Masterbuilt. MB is going to start around $5K and up. Keep that cookie jar fed. It's a goal worth saving for.

Jesus, I see that thanks for the heads up.I don't know how those prices could be justified as much as I love fender guitars. No thanks, I don't think the guitars at corona will be that high but I just have to go.

Brad: The concept of this new American Design Center is still sketchy. What are the range of options, what are the costs involved, and the time frame for completion and delivery? How do these compare price-wise with the Custom Shop and dealer off-the-wall production line guitars?

Umm, what exactly did you expect - wholesale direct? A new American Standard (which is off the regular production line) is about $1100. So if you want one guy to build you one guitar, using your specifications, what would you consider that to be worth? The Custom Shop hand makes all of their bodies and necks too - they don't just walk over to the production line and pick one off there. Totally not the same thing as paying a local guy to slap together a bunch of Warmoth parts for you.

This is a totally new concept and it seems that the only people out there who know the gory details are the locals.
