Solid that is a great clip. People need to hear all of Muddy Waters and although I do like Mannish Boy theres alot more than that.

Here’s a Muddy’s music trivia, Muddy didn’t want to play guitar on his first recording, he wanted to be a blues singer.

Muddy also learned to play slide guitar from Robert Nighthawk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJW9lJDwl_w&feature=related. You can hear Nighthawk's silde on Anna Lee.

Here is a rare live clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oypAbJj-fEs&feature=related

we were talking about Maxwell, my Bro and I used to shop there. Dungarees for a dollar/pair shirts for two dollars. right out of the trunk of a caddie or olds. Bro could save a buck for the ladies if he used his head. good old bad old, gone now, not much color left. at least there's you-tube for the young ones so they won't miss it completely.

I was fortune enough to travel to Chicago and go over to Maxwell St in the early ‘80s just before the ‘renovations’. I brought several suits where I went into the store, the owner measured me to alter the pants, I came back in an hour and the suit was ready.

I brought many albums there right on the street like this one

There is a DVD, where the Nighthawk clip came from 'And This Is Free: The Life and Times of Chicago's Legendary Maxwell St.' http://www.amazon.com/This-Free-Chicagos-Legendary-Maxwell/dp/B0015FQZCQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316096080&sr=8-1, thats worth owning.

Thanks for posting the link Tony. Glad that you recognize the artistic contribution of that free capitalistic environment. How life flourished on those few streets of Chicago's near westside. My Father and I went to a pawn-shop several blocks from Maxwell, at the corner of 18th and Halsted (now an office bldg.) and bought my first solid body electric guitar.

Oh, yeah, one would have had to go down there on a Sunday to realize what you mean, you could buy just about anything from car bumpers to skin care products.
