No need to apologise...I learn things here everyday. Arjay is a good guy and a freaking walking encyclopedia on all things Fender, especially amps! And at least now you know what the speaker is.

You can often find OEM alnico CTS speakers on Ebay for reasonable $$$. I prefer buying blown-but-rebuildable examples since they're a skosh cheaper and I know precisely what parts kits are used for repair and how they sound relative to an original-spec driver after re-coning (T2Stratman can personally attest to that).

Rawk on!

+1...That '64 Princeton NEVER sounded so good...love me some CTS recones! And to think if it hadn't been for this Forum, I might never have gotten motivated enough to replace that speaker...thanks again Arjay!

I have the orginal 4th speaker. The amp fell over and something punctured it. I should probably get it reconed? Is it difficult or take a lot of special equipment? What should it caust to get it done. (ballpark).

Where I live, about $65. A friend in Seattle had an identical speaker re-coned and it cost him about $50. It just depends on where you live and how competitive the shops there are.
