best advice I can give is google your butt off  just start with one piece at a time, like, how to dress frets. there are tones of youtube videos on a plethora of different repairs.

Check out these guys. Sig and Mike are great people,I lived next door to the school for many years and also played a lot of gigs with both of them.

I was going to mention stewmac too. I receive a email at least once a month with detailed instructions on how to do various guitar repair related projects. Very informational but also advertisements for specialized tools. Just ignore the ads and put the repair tips in a folder. I now have a folder full of great information. Just an idea for you. Good luck!

Dan Erlewine of StewMac has a couple of books out that you may find interesting.

Find a local place that fixes guitars and ask if you can help, un-paid. Slowly , you'll pick up on things. Both the wrong and right way.

Buy a few beaten up guitars and work on them yourself.

Get a book, I assume you have a guitar. Take it apart, put it back together. Do everything.

Hi xeonefireline: just to be a little more specific about books, The Guitar Player Repair Guide is likely the one most people here are thinking of. It doesn't contain absolutely everything about guitar repair (no book does) but in my experience it is by far the best, and by the time you know everything it contains... you'll know more than most of us here! :D

The best $20 you will ever spend on your guitar:

http://www.amazon.com/Guitar-Player-Rep ... 019&sr=1-1

Also, another suggestion. Where I live there are university and college departments for instrument making. You can do anything from a three year master's degree to inexpensive beginner's evening classes in everything from guitar building to simple setup and repair, and all points in between.

There may be similar options where you live. Well worth looking into: absolutely nothing beats seeing a good teacher show you things before your eyes - so much better than learning from a book.

Cheers - C

I picked up most of my knowledge of guitar repair over the years by dismantling mostly bolt neck guitars-I still don't have the confidence to tackle set necks.Unlike when I started there is a treasure trove of info all over the net and you can find a how-to on any aspect of guitar repair,As others have suggested Stew-Mac has a lot of info regarding guitar repair. Also Vintage Guitar Magazine has monthly articles on guitar repair and often they suggest books that pertain to guitar repair.
