Unique idea there Super Kid, but if we were to do write our own song, people won't be able to recognize it. That's kind of what I was aiming for.

Blues would be simple and cool, but I'm not sure if the crowd is right for that.

To whoever said "Hotel California", that is GOOD IDEA SIR!!!

Never seen it, is that the one about Robert Johnson?
How about the actual song "Crossroads" :?:

Another song that came to mind was that ZZ Top song whose title seems to be evading me at the moment. Also, maybe Band on the Run?

To me, the best dueling guitar playing is with the Pat Travers band. Check out Snorthing Whisky or Boom Boom out Goes The Lights. Pat Travers with Pat Thrall is by far the best two lead guitar dueling rock band there is or was.

Listen to this one

They did many more and they rocked
Rock-n-roll suzie
Stevie
Gettin Bettah....many more. They were a great guitar duo.I saw them many times and with many different line ups.I have to say though Pat Thrall and Mars Cowling and Tommy Aldridge were probably my favorite line up

Yea, that is my favorite Pat Travers Band line up as well. Man that band rocked indeed. Underrated band and underrated players IMHO.

Unfortunately, you'll also discover the hard way that while you're playing bar gigs - and just trying to establish yourself - your own material will largely be politely ignored, no matter how good it is. Play some of the covers listed here, and heads will lift up and some folks will actually pay attention to you rather than to their beer and buddies. A sad fact of life. :(

But of course, you should never stop being creative. One day, if you have the talent, the determination and the breaks, maybe people will listen to that too.
