I had the Wishbone Ash-Wishbone Ash CD come in the mail this A:M and after having about 5 listens to it from start to finish I remember what first drew me to them. These guys were brilliant songwriters and musicians "Phoenix" is a classic song with the dual lead breaks and all the tempo changes.I bought the album back when it came out but haven't listened to it for years.I forgot just how good these guys were in their original format.I believe that there were several personell changes over the years but none can compare to the original lineup.Anyone else a fan of these prog rock giants?

The Turner/Powell pairing was nearly as symbiotic as Betts and Allman. Both were powerhouses at the cusp of the spear.

Rawk on!

We used to do a decent cover of "Phoenix" way back. Great band. I used to practice with the albums by turning off one channel and playing along. So did our other guitarist. I play with some guys once in a while now and we cover "Blowin Free", "Handy" and "The King Will Come" The guitar parts are separated at least on my old vinyl records.

Absolutely a fan, they were the first band of that type i saw in 1981 when the two main men were Andy Powell (still with em) and Laurie Wisefield.

Loved Lauries playing and saw em quite a few times since with various other second guitarists.

As you say great exponents of the crafted rock guitar tune. Even did a version of Smokies "get ready" around 1981 too.
