I've been a big fan of Robin's from the beginning. I knew about him from his guitar work with 'Procol Harum', but was surprised when 'Twice Removed from Yesterday' was released.

I interviewed Robin on his first USA tour in a small venue for a local 'underground' newspaper here in Dayton, The Raspberry Radical in late '73.

I had just really started playing guitar, and asked him who was his biggest influence, after Jimi, and he told me it was Jimmy Nolen. Who? He looked at me like I was nutz, " You don't know James Brown's guitarist." I had seen Brown many times, and noticed the guitarist, but didn't know his name.

This fact explains Robin's very funky right hand, if you listen close you can really hear this influence.

Good choice! I bought The Playful Heart, his most recent CD. I think it's his best in many years.

Thanks, t. I have watched 3 of the vids at your link now. He doesn't use the whammy bar much, huh? Dude has it all in his hands. I have followed him through out his career. just like you.

I saw a youtube of him talking about his gear. He used the middle pickup and neck pickup or the two together, but hardly ever uses the bridge pickup.
